That's his minor league stats though. Did he play in the minors?

whoops i missed that. Why wouldnt they show his ML stats since he didnt accumulate any minor league ones? Probably because that AB was a sham

So Karabell/Law/Simon are giving up the Baseball Today Podcast to Buster Olney and it's going to be The Baseball Tonight Podcast with him, that is going to suck. I liked listening to that podcast, especially when Law was on talking scouting/prospects/organizational stuff. Think it's a safe assumption that Olney is going to take a different direction than those guys and will turn it into an extension of the BBTN Herp Derp Fest with useless information.

I had Mark Grace on the brain today after seeing he's going to jail for a few months. And whenever somebody mentions his name, the second thing to pop into my head (after the slumpbusters) is how we haven't had any good hometown players since him.

Just out of curiosity, I decided to compile the fWAR list. Numbers are just from their time on the Cubs.

Mark Grace - 46.1
Geovany Soto - 12.4
Rick Wilkins - 11.8
Starlin Castro - 9.1

That's your top 4 since 1988. Castro is poised to take over the "best since Grace" title pretty soon. But the interesting/disturbing part is the next four on the list.

Ryan Theriot - 8.8
Corey Patterson - 7.4
Carlos Zambrano - 6.0 (just as a hitter)
Matt Murton - 5.9

It's not been a great 25 years.

Sosa, Prior, Wood are higher than everyone there except Grace (Sosa is higher than Grace).

Sosa wasn't a product of the system.

Just looking at hitters. Sorry, I thought that was obvious. And Sosa wasn't a homegrown guy.

And yeah, whether Murton qualifies or not is an interesting question too. But I found it interesting that a guy that was run out of town for productivity reasons after just about two full seasons worth of at bats was the 8th best position player produced in the last quarter-century.

Yeah, this sucks. It sounds like the new podcast is going to be how you described it, Olney featuring other guys from the Baseball Tonight TV show (I took this to mean ex-players), which is likely going to suck. I'll give it a shot just to see how it goes but I'm not too optimistic about it.

Law said on Twitter that he's got something in the works for another podcast.

Anyone know of any other good daily baseball podcasts in the Baseball Today vein?

without doing any work on this, I would imagine you could take this all the way back to the mid 60s and it would be bad all the way. Dunston is probably the only one that comes to mind that would be above Soto
