Also, I'm not sure who the guest was this morn, but they said that from what they understand, Ted Lilly was telling Dempster the whole way that the Dodgers really wanted him, and that was why Dempster kept holding off.

god it's annoying that we didn't get delgado out of this.

Keep in mind, the initial accusation was from a Paul Sullivan article and there has yet to even be a quote attributed to anyone from the Dodgers.

I just listened to his interview on the Score from earlier today. He was quite annoyed that this story has blown back up in his face.

What'd he say? At this point, I really wonder if he even had a source or juat threw some [expletive] at the wall.

He said that in the post-trade deadline press conference, he asked Theo point blank if Dempster was allowed to listen in on the phone calls to the Dodgers and Theo said "Some things are better left unsaid". He was saying that several other reporters got the same impression after the PC (but he didnt name any). He also said on the Score last Friday, Jed actually said that Dempster was "listening in" and kept asking the guys to find the tape. They did play the tape earlier in the day and Jed did use those exact words.

Oh and he strongly implied that Jed tore him a new one after the story came out and Theo flatly denied the story being true.

So in other words Epstein didn't say yes and Sullivan thought it was okay to print it anyway. He deserves all the blowback he's getting and then some, idiot.

I'm far from a journalist major but I do know this, you don't misquote anyone. You put their quotes down and let the reader assume the obvious. His assumptions are probably correct but he messed up with this one.

Sounds like he didn't misquote anyone

As far as I'm concerned, both clubs were playing dirty pool with the Dodgers using Lilly as a liaison to Dempster to get him to use his 10/5 as trade leverage.

So the Rangers have placed Dempster on the restricted list. Yikes.

Rangers placed RHP Ryan Dempster on the restricted list.

Dempster will not make his scheduled start Saturday due to personal reasons, with Roy Oswalt getting the ball instead. It's not clear at this point how long he's expected to be away from the team. The veteran right-hander has struggled since landing in Texas, allowing 16 runs over his first three starts.

It sounds like Dempster, who hasn't pitched in Canada since 2004, may have lost his passport or something along those lines. Not serious.

Too bad he isn't around any more to mentor Wells and Shark on how to be true professionals.

From what I hear the issue wasn't getting him into his homeland of Canadia, but they were concerned about getting him back into the good ole U.S. of A. Lol.

We've been in contact with his agent about returning, according to Muskat.

well, at least he wouldn't have 10/5 rights.

We're looking for two quality starting pitchers. If Demp wants to come back on something along the lines of a 2/20something deal, I'd take it over Marcum, McCarthy, or Jackson on a 5/60something deal.

However the fans respond, if he pitches well, I'm sure they'll get over it.
