I wonder if the Yankees would consider Dempster and Castillo for Gary Sanchez. They're going to need catcher help sooner than Sanchez can likely provide it. The scales would have to be balanced out a bit more on that trade though as I see it.

 

The guy I would be most interested in(realistically) would be Cody Buckel from the Rangers. Hoyer would have to sweeten the deal on that one too though. It may not be a bad place to use the positional depth the Cubs farm system has to pull in some pitching talent.

I like Olt a lot as a trade target, but there's a long list of guys who go to the Texas league and boost their stock by popping up a bunch of HR, then fall back afterwards. He turns 24 in a couple weeks and has a decently high K rate as well. Maybe Texas has just written off Olt being available(and maybe that's what some of you are referring to), but given the trade returns so far this July, I hardly think it's outrageous to think of him as a target for Dempster +.

I wouldn't have been. I would have been OK with it, but wouldn't have been happy. I definitely would have been happy with what we got for Maholm, in a Dempster deal, but I think we all would have been.

They've got a problem dealing Olt. I'd be happy enough with Perez, Buckel, and Grimm for Garza though.
