notice how there have been no rumors whatsoever about the braves the last few days? weren't they going hard for a pitcher? then they don't even try for greinke (when atl was apparently one of zack's preferred teams), when the angels got him for a mediocre package?

Part of it is me thinking the Braves fucked themselves with the leaks. Once it got out that they were going to give up Delgado for Dempster, why the hell would a team trading someone like Greinke not demand an even better package?

Of course it doesn't hurt the Braves search that Sheets has been a stud off the scrap heap and Minor has decided he is the 2nd coming of Steve Carlton in July. He has posted a sub 2.00 era, almost 9k/per 9, 0.7 whip. 6.5 to 1 k/bb ratio and averages 7 innings per start.

Jurrgens has been awful, so they could still use another starter. With Beachy out, it would make sense that it's a "rental" rather than someone with time left on a contract.

Being only 4 down to the Nats and in a very tight wild card race, they can't afford to send out a guy with a 7+ era every 5th day

Yeah, they had a guy, Assman22,(Seinfeld reference or Billy Gunn fan, presumably) that's taken Marlin's stuff and put it over there before. If that's who it is, he took it from PSD. As far as Marlin goes, he's excellent.
