I know it's pretty much inevitable at this point, but I'm just not a particularly big fan of any of the Dodgers' prospects. Of the teams that have been rumored, they're easily my least favorite trading partner.

I think a lot of people on here are not going to be too happy with what Dempster fetches.

If the past is anything to go off of, I'd rather LA than Atlanta. Don't want to get fleeced again and end up with another Micah Bowie and Ruben Quevedo. LOL.

Names I mentioned last week in possible Demp deal to LA were pitchers Gould and Whitlow. Price may have gone up.

Yeah, because jose hernandez was such a stud for them.

RT @Kevin_Goldstein

Not just for Dempster. RT @JakeBartelson: @Kevin_Goldstein seems like Zach Lee is being discussed in trade talks to Cubs

I know someone said that there were confirmed Dodger's scouts at Peoria last night. Probably at the other levels as well. Aside from Baez, I can't think of too many guys eligible to be traded that I wouldn't be willing to offer as throw ins if Lee's on the table.

CubsInNC posted in the minor-league forum yesterday, was at the Peoria game, said there were Dodgers scouts there. Rosario was pitching, so he could have been viewed as a significant piece. Although he wrecked his arm in the game, so he's almost certainly out of the equation now. Although CubsinNC said

Whoever it is, it's not a pitcher, no gun.

Sources: #Dodgers pitching prospect Zach Lee will not be in a deal for a rental such as #Cubs' Dempster. Dodgers need offense more than SP.

LaHair will satisfy all their offensive needs....

Dodgets are a great trading partner for Dempster. Any of Chris Reed, Allen Webster, and Garrett Gould immediately become our best pitching prospect. All 3 of those guys are top 150ish guys. Ofman just tweeted price may have gone up from Gould and Chris Withrow, by the way. Withrow or Ethan Martin would both be a very solid second piece. Both throw hard, have some control issues, but loads of talent. Each were 1st rounders, for those that may care about that stuff.

Soriano could, with LaHair as a 3rd piece.

They seem like the logical team to trade with for sure. Sounds like Dempster wants to go there too.

BTW, he has handled all this like a complete pro. I live in CA, went to a Cubs-Giants game years ago and Dempster was by the dugout signing autographs and talking to all the fans. Just a really cool guy. In fact, he was the only player out there that I saw doing that. Nice to see a good guy succeeding. Best of luck to him, wherever he ends up.

I thought the Giants may take a chance on Soriano, if it's true that the Cubs are willing to pay almost all of his salary.

He has hit some of the longest homers at AT&T that I have ever seen.

Not sure how serious you were being, but I wouldn't compare the Hendry regime's evaluation abilities to the current one. Hendry was decent at it (at times), these guys are really good at it.

True.

But was that even Hendry or was it MacPhail? Or, actually, Lynch? I feel like MacPhail's first trade as GM was the Rondell White deal in 2000.

Wow, I didn't realize we traded him for Scott Downs straight up. Rondell was injured a ton but when healthy was pretty decent.
