I can't wait for the Cubs to light up Greinke and screw me over in fantasy.

I have Greinke AND Garza. I'm hoping for a 1-0 Cubs win where K-Rod gives the run up while Garza goes 9. 8-)

Not really expecting to win this one. Greinke dominated that Cardinal line-up in his first start.

Today's game is brought to you by Karsten Whitson!

Originally the number 9 overall pick for the San Diego Padres in the 2010, Whitson declined an offer of $2.1 million and instead opted to enroll at the University of Florida, where the sophomore is now the ace of the Gators rotation.

Karsten Whitson....coming to a Wrigley Field near you in 2017!

I'm still baffled by the Reed Johnson signing.

Our roster full of white guys needed an old white guy to teach them how to act like white guys.

You could just have Kaplan write a chapter in the Cubs Way for a more cost effective version.

god i hate that when we finally don't have to watch stupid marlon byrd it means we do have to watch stupid reed johnson

GO BACK IN TIME AND SIGN CESPEDES

Signings of stewart, dejesus, johnson..etc simply emphasizes that help is not close.

No, the signings of Stewart and DeJesus were to plug holes. Vitters is still a question mark and DeJesus isn't blocking anyone. Both are cheap and could be moved easily if need be.

Johnson is the only inexplicable one.

None signify that "help is not close", or anything of the sort.

Disagree. Strongly.

Stewart actually made perfect sense. Without a definitve long term answer at 3rd he was a gamble and we didn't give up anything of huge value for him. If he does end up figuring out, it's a huge win. If not, there's Vitters, and if not him then back to the drawing board.

DeJesus may not have fit in with the acquire young players game plan, but he was a great value and epitomizes the type of player that represents "The Cub Way".

I'd have been fine with Johnson on a minor league deal, but it really made no sense to go after him when they did. It might have simply been proactive thinking. They were ready and willing to trade both Byrd and Soriano for the right price at the time, and if they had traded both they'd need some kind of interim body in the outfield, and he was cheap.
