Three Creanings in one day? Nicely done Illinois! :hello:

Groce didn't recruit any of these guys, but you know that.

Ah I see. That explains it. =D>

Of course you can't see the difference between telling guys you didn't recruit that they won't have a role in your system as opposed to what Crean has done.

He can't see straight through his HOOSIER TEARS

I'll freely admit I suck at trolling.

I understand the allure of premiere jobs like UCLA, but I kind of like when coaches like Smart and Stevens stick with the program and really allow it to grow into something as opposed to just a couple of nice years. I hated when Dave Leito left DePaul for UVA when he was really started to build something, and he ended up falling flat on his face and is now an assistant at Missouri (after a stint as a head coach in the NBDL)

Agreed. I think it happens even when guys don't fall on their face. I've always thought Bill Self would have won in 2004/05 with Illinois, as opposed to waiting until 2008 in Kansas. He may have won again in 2008 at Illinois, who knows. He's still a successful coach, but he would have won sooner at Illinois.

I have no idea how Dan Guerrero gets 3 football hires and 2 basketball hires.

From Alford's presser when he signed that 10 year extension at New Mexico:

"I think it was a pretty big commitment, not only on the school’s part, but it was a pretty big commitment on my part especially what’s out there and the opportunities that are out there to show my loyalty to UNM and how much I appreciate UNM and how much I want to continue to build this thing.”

Alford's kind of a dick. I'm interested to see if he knows how to coach in a major conference now (though, has the Pac 12 even been better than the Mountain West as of late)

I was hoping Minnesota would get Alford...just for the excitement that would bring the B1G

Like the excitement he brought to Iowa?

Man, that guy's a tool.

Kind of? He's a huge d. That said, he's a solid coach. If he can figure out his tournament bugaboos (which may be fluke-ish anyway) he could do quite well there. While obviously no home run, it's better than Mark Gottfried.
