DePaul has a history of getting a nice little hometown "maybe" before being spurned for the big boy schools.

It also has landed a few of them as well. Bobby Simmons, Quentin Richardson, and Mark Aguirre come to mind.

3 players since 1978 is a godawful track record. They might have landed Garnett or Curry if the current rules were in place.

And if someone Rosed KG's ACT for him.

As a DePaul alum, I can assure you that the academic standards for admittance are pretty low

As a KG fan, I can assure you that Garnett was quite book-stupid.

And there is the fact that KG was committed to Michigan. Did you mean Eddy Curry?

Garnett was a rumor at the time. Curry was closer to reality

Regarding Parker, if he didn't want to go to Illinois, I'm glad he left them off the finalist list so the process isn't strung out. He was probably going to end up at UK/UNC/Kansas/Duke anyway, so at least Illinois doesn't have to devote resources to recruiting him any more.

Curry formally committed to DePaul. There was also Ronnie Fields (I think), Lance Williams and Steven Hunter.

Watford won an ESPY. I didn't even know the ESPY's still existed.

So he won for best play over the guy who leaped over the wall to rob a homer?

They'll probably put a new trophy case up to house it, next to their Sweet 16 trophy case from last year.

IU Basketball should only display their National Championships like Purdue does.

Haha. You have the biggest IU inferiority complex. Purdue can display their little victories but IU can't put a display in the Assembly Hall lobby about last season? They should make a display for the ESPY. IU is in on lots of the top players nationally for 2013, 2014, and 2015 from out of state. That wouldn't happen if not for the success they had last season. So if reminding a recruit that you can win an ESPY by hitting a big shot at Indiana helps, then damn straight they should display it. It's not like they have a banner hanging for Watford's shot.

I cry myself to sleep at night wishing I had gone to IU instead.

Since you brought up all the guys IU is 'in on' over the next few years, any word yet on who's paying their own way to play this year? I haven't heard anything on that front in a while.

I think it's going to be Gary Harris.

I think Elston is going to take a football scholarship.

Being condemned to the IU football program is no joke.

It's a bit refreshing to have people hating IU again as opposed to not caring for so long.

That being said, the expectations on this team for next year are going to be crazy. I don't think there is a true #1 dominant team in the country, so I see why IU is in that discussion. They should be very athletic and deep, lots of speculation that they are going to incorporate a press defense as well.

Anything short of a Final Four is a failure IMO. Likely losing Zeller and maybe Oladipo after the season, and obviously losing Watford and Hulls. You'll see a step back in 2013. Especially considering that, other than Yogi, I don't think the freshmen will get a ton of minutes this year. This is a year IU can actually be 'better' than Kentucky with big time talent and actual veteran players.

I've been reading that MSU is the likely destination.

Well in that case, [expletive] him.

I don't know. Gotta think Perea at least gets Pritchard's former minutes, not to mention he's probably going to get some of Elston's minutes when he continues to display his natural stupidity. Plus, I think that Hollowell is too good to keep on the bench all year. He may not get 20 minutes per, but I don't see why he wouldn't play in every game. Sucks for him that he does have a team with Oladipo, Sheehey, Etherington and Watford who all play a similar position, but I think there's some time for him in there somewhere.

Yep, and now we see why Tom Izzo was so quick to throw Mike Thomas and Illinois under the bus. It helped him out. [expletive] troll.

Another thing to consider is that IU has big time expectations nationally now. Last year they were under the radar to start the season, even within the B1G. That could affect things.

Don't worry Bruno, I always hated IU
