How the hell did this happen? How did that entire conference get so bad? I mean I've never thought of the Pac 10 as an elite hoops conference but usually they have produced at least some strong teams in the past. Heck, Howland gets an extension and UCLA could not even qualify for the tourney in this league?

 

Howland didn't get an extension, he just didn't get fired.

 

A few reasons for the conference being down: a lot of recruiting misses (highly regarded recruits being busts and less regarded HS players ending up succeeding at UNLV, SDSU, New Mexico, etc.) and there has been a massive dearth of HS basketball talent in Southern California, which has generally been the biggest pool of talent for the whole conference.

It's based on Pomeroy's rating, which does take strength of schedule into account.

Keep in mind his numbers were calculated before the Lamar/Vermont game. Lamar was the clear favorite in that game, and since they lost, UNC's odds of winning their game will now go up.

 

Vermont will move up a bit with tonight's win, they should slot in aroun 8.7-8.8% chnce based on KenPom

 

ETA: So he'd give the best chance to UNC-Asheville who's sitting at a 9.5% chance against Syracuse WITH MELO

Works just fine for me. I just brought up the Murray St. game through the CBS site and video from warmups at the So Miss-KSt game just came up through trutv.
