Opening day? Are you for real?

Baseball in the midwest sucks. We weren't outside in high school and college until like mid March.

Anyone see Chris Beck pitch? I've never seen him, but I figure him and Gausman are pretty close to what we're looking at with the 6th pick, unless Appel or Giolito falter.

Nah, I've never seen him pitch since he plays at a small school. Fyi, Appel looked good last night.

Same [expletive] for UCLA: dominant starting pitching (Plutko) but a crappy offense and pen does them in.

Ole Miss has one of the fastest, if not the fastest player in D1 baseball in Senquez Golson a freshman outfielder who passed on an over million dollar signing bonus from the Red Sox to play football and baseball at Ole Miss. Just came across this video of him last night showing off some of his speed.

oh and fwiw, here is Trent Richardson breaking the ankle of Golson in football last fall

They'd have to get the big northern conferences to be on board with it, but it makes sense to me to put non-con in Fall ball, then compress the conference season so the weather isn't awful. Illinois plays 31 noncon games this year and only 7 are on their home field, playing their first 19 noncon and first 24 overall away from Champaign.

You remove the one-off noncons during conference season and you can start after MLB opening day. Now I'd still try and start the conference season away from Minnesota and the Michigans, but it could work.

The problem is you do miss out on the road trips, so maybe you throw in a southern trip or 2 every year to keep recruits interested.

OMC, I know you love Senquez Golson, but the guy I really like on Ole Miss is Bobby Wahl. He looks like a top 15 pick to me in 2013.

Yeah he has been obliterating people lately. Friday his line was 6 IP, 10 K's, 1 hit, 0 ER

Since this has never happened before, I thought it might be newsworthy...

Purdue baseball is now nationally ranked in all four major national polls at the same time for the first time in program history.

Bobby Wahl of No. 16 Ole Miss beats No. 1 Florida with 8 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 6 K

Oh, and y'all check out this clip of the Ole Miss student section doing their "home run shower" after a jack during tonight's game. Terrific camera work to catch that.

Purdue is ranked 13th?!?

They've had an amazing season and have a really strong RPI.

Weak competition or legit draft-able players?

Well, they have some 3rd-10th round prospects but no 1st rounders.

Did you not read what Raisin said? Amazing season on top of a strong RPI. If you had a really strong RPI, it can't be weak competition.

STFU, it's the Big Ten, of course it's weak competition.

I'm pretty sure if you're 30-0, no matter who you play, you're gonna have a high RPI.
