Yeah, this is by far the greatest season in Purdue baseball history (at least in the last hundred years). It's great timing to have it happen this year as our new stadium is nearing completion and the program will actually have some momentum to go with its opening. We've only got one player in MLB (Josh Lindblom, Dodgers). Hopefully a couple guys make it from this team.

Pretty sure they had #1 hardest non-conference schedule this year? I thought that was the reason why their RPI was so high?

Tyler Beede throwing today for Vanderbilt against Miss. St. Good changeup, solid mechanics, and has hit 94 twice so far in the 1st.

Glad I found this. Best MLB game on is Rays-Sox and I'll pass...Serenity is on anyway.

Fastball was as low as 86 (up) to 94. Threw a couple of really nice ones. Could not throw his breaking ball for strikes in the inning. Threw a cuter or two at 88-89.

The Vandy 2B is athletic. This Vandy team doesn't seem as badass as a couple f then from before, but I'm not big on college baseball.

Woodruff the Miss St. SP just dropped a 71 MPH curve for strike three. He looks like he has a good arm. 90-91 so far.

Beede was a big disappointment early on but he's come on strong and his stuff has rebounded of late. North Carolina State lefty Carlos Rodon has been the best freshman this year and is the early favorite for #1 overall in 2014 (heck, he'd be the #1 pick in this year's draft if he were eligible).

Vandy started off horribly (I think they were 1-7 at one point this season) but is coming on strong and is above .500. They're a very young team and will be a force next year.

16 regional hosts announced today:

Arizona

Baylor

UCLA

Florida

Florida State

Louisiana State

Miami

North Carolina

North Carolina State

Oregon

Purdue (at Gary, IN)

Rice

South Carolina

Stanford

Texas A&M

Virginia

The big shock is Miami being picked over Kentucky. If I had to guess, I bet Kentucky is the #1 seed in Gary and Purdue is the #2.

The national seeds are all but locked up and should likely be: Florida, UCLA, LSU, Florida State, Baylor, North Carolina, Oregon and South Carolina. The selection show is tomorrow at 11 AM Central on ESPNU.

Rondon is that good? Did he hold his velocity better than he did in HS? How would he compare to a Drew Pomeranz? Does his upside really best Appel's?

Yeah, Rodon was 92-95 in the 9th yesterday. I'd take him over Appel. He's been filthy all year.

No idea how I'd compare Pomeranz as a junior to Rodon but Rodon is more advanced than Pomeranz as a freshman. They throw different out pitches.

More wondering if he's in Pomeranz's class of college lefty...big fan of Pomeranz...This guy seems to have similar size and yeah his changeup is ahead of where Pomeranz's was even when drafted.

Good to hear there's a lefty in college baseball with some top tier talent.

Rondon is flat out filthy. Best pitcher I saw in the college ranks this year. Honestly, if he was draft-eligible, I think he'd go 1-1. Here's hoping he stays healthy the next few years. Shame that he isn't eligible next year ...

As for me, the UVA regional looks decent for UVA (plus ... it wouldn't surprise me if Clemson knocked off South Carolina in their regional). As a UVA fan, my only concern is a big one, though. I feel fairly comfortable about our chances with Kline and Artie Lewicki, who has come on strong of late, but the Silverstein slot is troubling. I really wouldn't mind it if O'Connor and Co. moved Lewicki to Friday to set up Kline in a potentially pivotal game against Oklahoma, and then hope you can mix and match for one more win. The offense is going to have to come through, and Crockett/Thompson are going to have to be on top of their game.

UCLA ends up being the #2 overall national seed. Can't complain about their regional.

LOS ANGELES REGIONAL

1 UCLA

4 Creighton

3 New Mexico

2 San Diego

Winner takes on the winner of the College Station regional (TAMU, TCU, Ole Miss, Dayton).

I think Clemson is overrated - Coastal Carolina has a better chance of beating South Carolina.

Rodon was considered a top 200ish guy last year. He wanted around 800,000 to sign and got drafted late because of the bonus demands. It certainly gives hope to finding that type of breakout guy that's not considered a true first round talent.

Guys like Steve Stasburg and maybe David Price, but he signed with Vanderbilt so that's unlikely. Kris Bryant?

Well, Matt Moore was a legit 8th rounder that signed for around slot. The guys you mentioned obviously didn't sign. I want to change that. Like any fan, I want us to be the team that finds THAT guy this year.

Jonathan Crawford threw a no-hitter for Florida against Bethune-Cookman.

Oral Roberts upset Baylor 4-2. Only #1 to lose, though Purdue is losing early on.

Kent State upset Kentucky 7-6 but it took 21 innings.

UCLA beat Creighton 3-0 behind a complete game 2-hitter from Adam Plutko. :)

The Clemson-South Carolina game yesterday was fantastic.

They seem to always play ridiculous games in June.

We're about to get a rematch in a few minutes. I'm hoping for less drama and another South Carolina win.

This is only the Regionals - I can't take yet another year of high-drama games in the post season.

Yay - UCLA advances to the Super Regionals for the 2nd time in 3 years. They'll face TCU or Ole Miss.

Uh oh Raisin, guy I follow on Twitter's play of the day is TCU over UCLA tonight.

Shrug. Anything can happen in a best-of-3 and while UCLA is the #2 overall seed, they're not some dominant powerhouse squad.
