Not what you think though.

We get AJ Burnett, Yankees get Salary relief of $13m over two years.

We give up one guy I never heard of and another guy I barely heard of who is 25 and still in low a ball.

It's what I thought.

On the other hand, I wonder if Dempster's market would only be slightly better than this?

Probably if we tried to trade him now it would be, but if he is having a good to average year up to the trade deadline we could probably get at least one decent prospect (someone in a teams top 20, but not top 5) from a team looking to add a 2/3 type pitcher.

How do you break your face in a bunting drill? Take note Dale Sveum! Burnett out 2-3 months. Wow.

My guess is be bunged it straight down off home plate and it bounced straight back up into his face

I played baseball with a guy in high school who would have balls hit off his face when practicing bunting. He was our worst player. One time he managed to have a ball hit off his face after taking a full swing, I had never seen that before and don't know how he did it. Never amounted in him breaking anything on his face but he usually had some nice bruises and got some bloody noses/lips out of it. Finally the coach would hold him out of bunting/hitting drills, safe to say the kid rarely played and got in as a pinch runner only once in a while.

/I know, cool story bro.

In this case, it's about the money. It's no secret that the Yankees had been trying to move A.J. and as much of his salary as possible for a while now. With Dempster, if we expected a team to pick up a bulk of the salary, we'd probably get around what the Yankees got for Burnett, probably less because he's on the last year of a contract. However, if we were to pick up the bulk of the salary, we could get a better player return. As in demand reliable starting pitching is, we could get a good return on Dempster if we ate most to all of the salary, and since our goal is to build the farm and not dump salary, that's what I'd like to see.

Same thing happened on the very first pitch of the season in a league I was in in college. The guy laid there on the ground for like 10 minutes. Still don't understand how it happened.
