the gigantic GI Joe aircraft carrier

a kid in my class brought that in for show and tell and it was [expletive] epic

[expletive] that kid. It will forever be my toy holy grail. Wasn't it something insane, like 5 feet long?

I never got the lego monorail set that I wanted as a kid, and it's haunted me all these many years.

i remember it being bigger than that, actually. there were like 10 or 12 of us huddled around that thing from what i can recall

either way, you can bring your decades-long struggle to an end: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/gi-joe-aircraft-carrier

Good God, it was humongous. I should have said I would have used it as a bed. Over 7 feet long, and it had a microphone/speaker system?!? Holy [expletive], I might just make it my coffee table.

And the insane part was it was only $110 when it was released in 1985. Adjusting for inflation today that would, I think, only be about $250. That seems insane.

i once brought one of my hot wheels in for show and tell in kindergarten. it was one of the ones that changed colors if you put it in hot or cold water. this kid tried to steal it (claimed it "fell" in his pocket - even at five i knew he was full of [expletive]) and i never wanted to bring toys to school again.

Dear God....

How is that not the greatest vehicle/playset ever made? And for only $250?!?

I had the fighter jet, and you could put, what, 4 or 5 of those things on there? Holy macaroni

Uh, 'cause it's dumb as [expletive]

Working lights! Working elevator! It fires rockets! It can hold all of your vehicles! An amplifier with a microphone! You're a monster!

but I love gluten

That's a dumb toy. I never wanted big nonsense things that did nothing. That's the [expletive] some spoiled brat had just to show off and he never played with it because there was nothing to play.

Your mom had working lights and an amplifier for her microphone but I still got bored just as quickly as anybody who owned this thing.

Now I feel real bad for him.

If the toy didn't get up on its own and dance a soft shoe, gooney couldn't be bothered. Why even try engaging your imagination?

I've enjoyed this thread much more since people stopping talking about the dumb wrigley renovation.

also, these guys were my jam growing up (see below). my dad was doing some landscaping about a year ago and found one buried under a bush. probably aged 27 years and strong as ever (sorry for the pinterest link, "muscle men" brings up a lot of interesting things on google and it's the best I could do)

[expletive] YEAH, MUSCLE MEN. Wasn't it "M.U.S.C.L.E. Men" or something along those lines? Either way, I think I had a billion of them and managed to step on every single one. Then my brother and his friends tried to color a bunch of them one day and there was hell to pay.

Yep. Seems like there was a lot of acronyms.

M.A.S.K.

K.I.T.T.

E.T.

C.O.P.S.

CHiPs

ALF

GI Joe had a bunch of acronyms too...

I remember that M.A.S.K. was a TV show first, and nine year old me thought "this show would make the best toys ever", and then they made the toys and I was all :yahoo:

Toyota logo being added to the bottom of the marquee.

1. They want their logo in the 2015 World Series champions photos.

2. Cant wait to hear people freak out about this.

3. Rename the stadium Toyota Park or Toyota Field. That extra $20M+ per season would be nice.

Relevant because Toyota includes the word 'toy'
