Kenney was just on Sports Talk Live on CSN. Hoping they post the video on their site. Not much new but did explain a lot of stuff.

Kenney says first shovel goes in the ground in July(two months from now) for the new clubhouse. Completion by opening day 2016. The bleacher expansion and signage will not be piecemeal, need to order steel this summer. Don't know if that means signage will be done for next year or not.

It does. When asked directly by Kaplan about the jumbotron, he said they anticipate/want the main video board up next year (which would imply the bleacher expansion too) and I can only imagine the case would be the same for the other boards.

The more I read about this, the more I think that the Rooftop owners had terrible attorneys when they signed that deal. The Cubs gave themselves several outs, and the approval from city government part trumps everything else. The rooftop guys are going to lose this. Interesting the last part he wrote about the loser of the arbitration hearings has to foot the bill. Quite a risk and the Cubs knew what they were doing there. They can afford it and it is a built in strong arm in their favor.

With the proposed bullpens moving to the outfield, does this mean the wells in left and right corners go away to allow for more space?

no. they are expanding into the street. the only modification to the brick outfield wall would be to widen one/some of those doors and replace with chain link fence or something else they could see into the park through.

Or he's the face of the business ops department that has had the renovations sat in perpetual standstill.

He's probably our most valuable non-player employee. And even including players he's gotta come in the top 10

Important? Sure. Valuable? What positive has he done since Ricketts took over?

Well, we could play that game with everyone in this entire organization except for the moles who convinced Houston not to draft Bryant last June.

The entire baseball ops plan is completely dependent on business ops getting the renovations done and securing TV deals. Nothing happens until they do their job.

then they are the definition of replacement level and we shouldn't give a damn about them. if that's really the case, we should be looking to get someone in here who has ideas for how to avoid losing 100 games without leading the league in payroll.

Seriously, I would love it if they could escape the hellhole this neighborhood is rapidly becoming:

http://crimeinboystown.blogspot.com/2014/06/witnesses-unconscious-woman-sexually.html

12:38AM - An apparently unconscious woman becomes the victim of a criminal sexual assault across the street from Wrigley Field outside of Sports World.

Guess they cant move to Rosemont, Schaumburg, Naperville, River North or anywhere with a bar scene then. These drunk sexual assaults happen everywhere. The only chance is to move the team to Sandwich, IL i guess.

That's just the latest disgusting cherry on top of a turd sundae; Wrigleyville and Boystown have been going to [expletive] for a while, and to chalk it up to just being "bar neighborhood behavior" is bull [expletive] because it's clearly been getting a LOT worse in the last few years. A lot less cops, the local shelters/clubs have no money and are basically out of control, and you have the city as a whole actively fostering a "come party and whatever happens, who gives a [expletive]?" environment Everyone from Tunney to Rahm is desperate to keep what is a veritable crime wave from Belmont to Waveland out of the news; crimes are routinely reclassified to keep from seeming as bad it is, but the area is rife with whatever you want: robberies, assaults, brawls, holdups, bank/store robberies, open prostitution and now sexual assaults and actual homicides. It's a serious issue and a sad, sad downturn that's getting next to no attention. I'd honestly feel safer hanging around the Cell right now than Wrigley.
