What. The. [expletive].

I knew Al Davis was still alive somehow.

how is it a bad thing? Hue Jackson was a loony.

Because the next coach will be the team's eighth in 12 seasons. You can't keep having this kind of turnover with the coaching staff and expect to have any kind of success.

After seven straight years of five or fewer wins, Cable gets fired. Hue Jackson takes over, gets them to a position where a win in the last game gets them into the playoffs, and now he gets fired. It's ridiculous.

The Raiders have been ridiculous for a very long time, this firing doesn't change that. A new GM starting fresh and potentially instilling stability could be a very good thing. Stability for the sake of it isn't worth anything, and if the new GM wanted a different style coach there wasn't much benefit in forcing a doomed relationship to continue.

I think the new GM is just pissed that he has to keep hearing all this Tebow crap and is taking it out on Jackson for losing the last game that allowed the Broncos to stay in the playoffs.

The J E T S replaced Brian Schottenheimer with Tony Sparano at OC.

I'm probably wrong, but Sparano seemed like a decent HC. I'm surprised nobody wanted to give him another shot.

The Dolphins had high expectations (for some odd reason) and fell flat on their faces the past three years. Nobody was going to jump on Sparano as HC until he reestablishes himself as an underling somewhere.

Gregg Williams is leaving Saints to join Fisher in St. Louis. Short list of replacements includes Spagnola, Nolan, and Del Rio.

I always thought Williams was an overrated DC. The Saints would be scary if they landed Spags.

Maybe. I think New Orleans needs to improve their personnel. When you blitz 51 percent of the time and rank in the bottom half in sacks, you probably need better players.

Sounds a lot like the Packers defense.

Yes and yes. This season's team sack leader was safety Roman Harper. It's good that he he adept at getting to the QB because he couldn't cover anyone.

I can only hope that the new coordinator realizes he has no linebackers outside of Vilma and that Will Smith is ridiculously overrated. That and maybe preaching sound defense instead of relying on blitzes and takeaways. The Rams have been had.

Seven minutes ago, ESPN ran a scroll at the bottom saying Jim Caldwell would return to the Colts next year.

Now ESPN is saying he's fired.

YES YES YES. All praise Tebow.

I woke up this morning and the ebays and emails were saying Caldwell was staying. What a great turnaround/relief.

And, in honor of the worst coach in the NFL, we'll always have this:

The Indianapolis Colts did indeed pursue Jeff Fisher as their head coach, while still having Jim Caldwell on board in that role, says a tweet from Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Apparently, the inquiry was made before Fisher accepted the Rams job, and of course before Caldwell was fired on Tuesday. According to Thomas, Fisher told the Colts he wasn't interested.

If true, Fisher apparently wanted more GM powers than he could have had in Indy. Irsay supposedly tweeted that this report was false, but I would expect him to do that either way.
