Another option. The only downside I see here is that bears/sox fans might not want to come here to talk Bears if they get inundated with Cubs stuff.

My opinion, this isn't a high traffic board, so more sub-boards isn't necessary. Would rather consolidate discussions, so its easier to switch between discussions.

"View Active Topics" is your friend. Or it should be.

Actually when I'm on my phone I use the Tapatalk function that showsjust new topics. Is this a function on a normal browser too? I end up reading mostly from my phone.

Yes, there's a link called "View Active Topics" that works much like that, but actually does a better job filtering threads with recent activity than Tapatalk.

Yeah I haven't gone into the individual forums looking for new threads in a long long time. "View new posts" is my best friend.

well, yea maybe, but then you would need some catchy way of signifying what area the sports teams you were aiming for were from. Some prefix, like a zip code or something. oh hell idk, but is sure sounds promising tho.

Clearly, NSBB is a sterling example of success that should, no, MUST be emulated.

I would think it could be done pretty cheaply. He could make Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, and Illini sites. I'd go for the 3 pro teams.

Sorry to interrupt this thread with Bears information.

Adam Podlesh's hip flexor is a "bad injury" that could force the Bears to make a roster move before the regular season.

"I am very concerned," special teams coordinator Dave Toub said. "It's a bad injury for a punter to have."

Two league sources said Urlacher wasn't just biding his time and hoping the injury would heal itself during the offseason. He was chasing down a cure in Europe.

One source said Urlacher left sometime in May or early June to meet with a physician described as "that famous doctor everybody goes to," while the other source said the player opted for "non-invasive treatment" that he paid for himself.

Yeah, from what Mulligan said this morning on the radio, there's no real side effects. The only real downside would be if it caused him to wait on the scope when it could have possibly helped earlier. But it's always apparently been about swelling with the knee.

What happened with that rookie punter that was competing with Podlesh last pre-season? I seem to remember thinking he outplayed Podlesh, but since Podlesh was a veteran who we paid some money to, he didn't really have much of a real chance. Did he end up somewhere else?

He's currently in a competition for the Cleveland job.

Chris Kluwe has a verified account on Reddit, and had some thoughts on Podlesh's injury. I edited it a bit for those that don't like the reddit format.

Hey Loate, our ST Coach is pretty concerned about Podlesh's hip-flexor.

How bad is it to get that injury as a Punter?

Chris Kluwe

It sucks, since I'd say that's arguably the most important punting muscle you have. Hamstrings are painful but you can play through them if you really have to (I've had to do it a couple times); if your hip flexor goes the only thing you can do is wait for it to heal back up since you'll have no forward leg drive at all.

Edit: I remember talking to Dustin Colquitt before a game once and he was describing how he tweaked his the season before (this was a couple years ago, and nowhere near as bad as it sounds like Podlesh's is). His exact words were "Every time I went to punt, it felt like someone reached between my legs and yanked on my balls as hard as they could." Bear in mind that's how he felt after ALREADY having a Toradol painkiller shot in his system.

Does it help that this is on his non-punting leg?

Chris Kluwe

It's a little less severe than if it was his kicking leg but it's still pretty bad. It's like the difference between being stabbed with a burning rusty sword vs. a rabid wolverine clamping down on your colon. They're both going to hurt a lot.

My Optimism is waning on this season. Between our oline, Dline, linebacker and safety issues, it's simply too many question marks.

It's going to be interesting how we are versus the run

How many games do you have them winning this year?

Has someone reminded CubbyVirus that for the first time in a long time, maybe ever, the Bears have a big boy offense? Buy a dog.

I gotta say, that's kind of disappointing. JPP would have been a better lithmus test for the Webb/Williams battle.
