Yeah, it's from his own 35, he's got a guy coming at him.

The ball is beautiful, right on the money, defenders with no chance at all.

There has not been a single QB in Bears history who can do that. Yet we still must suffer meatballs who don't like the fact he won't be friendly in press conferences.

the thing is, he's usually friendly in PCs. it's that meathead urlacher that gets surly and goes after reporters with his answers, the so-called face of the franchise. jay is usually boring, though he's been more insightful lately.

Actually, that brings up an overall inconsistency. It isn't just PCs. Urlacher is easily as surly and stand-off-ish in general as Cutler is. Yet Brian is treated much better than Jay.

Jay's persona is interpreted as, "pfff, whatever, I don't even care." Whereas Urlacher's surliness is interpreted as a guy who really cares about the game. It's no surprise which version of not friendly with the media would be treated better.

I love Jay Cutler. I called him a top 10 QB before last year and everyone I work with called me a homer. I think I had Cutler at 9. Of course, I did have him in the same class as Eli Manning, who was 1 spot ahead of him. I'm really excited to see what Cutler does this year. I don't think the world realizes just how bad the Bears WRs and OL have been the last 2 years, and they had the worst offensive scheme for the personnel they had.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure I had: Brady, P Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben, Rivers, Vick, Eli Manning, Cutler, Romo.

I'd put Matt Ryan in there in place of a couple of the guys you mentioned, like Vick, E. Manning or Romo. But pretty much in agreement with the rest.

Outside of the clear top 3 (Brees, Rodgers, Brady in whatever order you want) I think spots 4-10 can be organized a lot of different ways with the group of guys from Peyton, Ben, Rivers, Vick, Eli, Cutler, Romo, Newton, Ryan and I could even see an argument for guys like Schaub/Dalton/Luck/Stafford being somewhere towards the end.

A couple of things from Bears minicamp from Brad Biggs:

Devin Thomas and Kellen Davis both looked slow.

Mike Tice spent over an hour of the 2.5 hour practice with the offensive line.

Probably should have spent another 1.75 practicing with the offensive line.

Eli's pretty clearly a top 5 QB at this point. I'm not big on "Superbowl wins means you're the best", but he's won and put up numbers. When all things are equal, then the rings give him the edge. But Eli is more talented and has been more successful than everyone outside of the top 3.

And remember this was before the 2011 season. My list would be different now. Stafford took a huge step up, Peyton down, Eli up, Vick down. Not sure how I feel about Matt Ryan yet. I was one of the few on here that liked him coming out of the draft, but I don't think he has the "carry a team ability" that a lot of elite QBs have. I worry if Luck has that also.

I've always wondered why people don't like Cutler. Everyone agrees the Favre attention-whoring was insufferable, yet they hate Jay when he doesn't give a crap what people think of him and doesn't go out of his way to make everyone like him.

Recently I had the same thoughts about Urlacher that were mentioned here. I feel like if you got to hang out with Cutler and Urlacher separately behind the scenes, you would really like Cutler. He seems intelligent, funny and overall a good guy. I bet if you hung out with Urlacher, you would think he actually is a meathead and douche. Yet all bears fans love to worship Urlacher and many somehow don't like cutler.

EDIT: I realize most sports fans are meatheads and douches.

Totally agree. As Sulley said earlier, I don't know how many QB's I would rather have with the situation we have had the past few years. That Monday night game against the Lions last year was one of the most impressive QB performances I have ever seen. I wish the country could see someone like Brady have to play in that situation and see how it turns out.

We have basically seen it. The first Giants SB wasn't quite the same, but Brady was clearly shaken by what was even less pressure than Cutler faced in Detroit. And he played like crap.

Who are you and why do you know he used to be Sully?

Cutler would probably be a jerk to you if you aren't a friend of his (or a kid or an attractive woman). And that's fine. I love it, actually. I'd be exactly the same if I were famous and had fans bugging me all the time.

I think you're way underrating Romo.

At most, it's slightly underrating him.

anyone who characterizes cutler as a douche doesn't know what that is, he is simply a dick of the highest order. nothing douchy about him.

Except he has the hair that every douchey lacrosse player that went to college in the early 2000's had. It's douche by association.

Have you visited a Southern college town recently?

93% of males under 30 living south of the Mason-Dixon line have that hairstyle.

Yes, the south tends to catch on to trends slowly, like Canada.
