over the course of a full season it's a huge difference

Good thing they aren't playing a full season then. They lose a handful of off days, and play about 20% fewer games in total. It's not insignificant, but it's being blown way out of proportion.

Just for comparison:

From December 26th to the end of the season last year (April 13th) the Pacers played 55 games.

From December 26th to April 13th this year, the Pacers will have played 59 games.

Comparing 2009 to this season it would be 55/60 (since the end of the season in 2009 was April 14th).

So they are having more games, but the NBA was already playing a pretty compact schedule to begin with. It's debatable whether 4 or 5 more games over an almost 4 month stretch is a huge difference or not.

Believe it or not, most if not all teams have a slower stretch built into the season. For instance look at the Clippers. They just played their first back to back of the season last night and have already had 2 days off in between times I think 4 times. The Bulls have played 5 back to backs already and have had 2 days off between games once. If u look at the Bulls April schedule, they have quite a bit of off days built in. So it does get better.

Not that it means anything...just a quirk of the schedule...but the Heat play on Friday, and then don't play again till Tuesday. The Bulls don't get 3 days off the whole season (with the exception of the ASB).

Last year at this time the Bulls played 11 games in 19 days, and 13 games in 22 days. It's really not a huge difference.

There was no way the sixers ever played 5 games in 6 days last season. They probably averaged 3 or 4 games per week.

They didn't. Back to back to backs were eliminated from the NBA about 10 years ago. But no team has more than 2 on their schedule this year. Philadelphia's other one isn't until April, and for that one they have 2 days off before and after that stretch. After this week, they'll return to playing 3-4 games a week (mostly 4).

Wow Dwight Howard has attempted 39 FTs tonight, shattering the NBA record of 34 by Wilt back in the 60's.

Also has a 45pt/23reb game

the wizards are [expletive] terrible

They pretty much get the ball across half court and then one of their dumb players isolates against a better defender and they take a dumb shot. At least they did this against the Bulls, I'm assuming it's the same against everyone else.

yeah their offense looked terrible but their defense was also embarrassing. i get that the sixers are better this year, but nobody should be giving up 120 points to them.

I guess the NBA wanted to get all the trips out West early. 11 teams from the East have played more road games then home, 3 have played the same number, and only Boston has played more games at home than the road.

JJ and E'twaun Looked great in their 55 seconds tonight haha. A nice runner by E'Twaun and a block and big cleanup dunk by JJ.

"wait a minute ... this thing is a willard!!"

Since it's my last name, I feel obliged to ask what a willard is.

They could still win this game and I don't think anyone will beat them in a playoff series but I still enjoy watching the Heat struggle.

is everyone playing a hellish schedule because of the lockout? the sixers played their 3rd night in a row and 5th game in 6 nights.

Bulls have played 43% more games than the Clippers. That's pretty weird.

Is Boston going to consider tanking the season so they can get a good lottery pick soon?

They tried that once and the Spurs got tim duncan and set up a mini-dynasty.

This Thunder team is so good.
