No way. I think they're more likely to play VMart at 3B or LF.

I Have talked with Miguel Cabrera who confirms that will go to third base bit.ly/zv0jB6 #Tigers

Miguel Cabrera told @Marfamata that he was aware of this possibility five days ago and spoke with Jim Leyland about moving to 3B.

V-Mart is out for the year

I was talking about next year. Wouldn't Fielder at 1st and Cabrera DH be the obvious move for this year and beyond?

So by 2014, their best 3 position players will all being a sh*tload of money and will be best-suited to play DH. Oh, and Justin Verlander's current deal will be expiring:

2014 salaries:

Cabrera - $22 million

Martinez - $12 million

Fielder - $23.8 million*

Verlander - $ 12 million

So for that record, they'll be paying over $57 million for three DHs.

*Assuming, without knowing the full details of the contract, that the AAV is constant throughout Fielder's new 9-year deal (which it surely won't be, of course)

The whole account is gone. At least he knew well enough to pack up and go home, I guess.

RT @dschoenfield: Name me a worse defensive infield than Tigers' possible alignment of Cabrera, Peralta, Raburn and Prince? Anything close in last 30 years?

This makes more sense but I wouldn't be surprised if he pops back up sometime, maybe even under a different name, and starts blindly guessing again. Haha, he probably likes the attention, I guess it worked though.

The last time Cabrera tried to play 3B was in 2008 with the Tigers. He committed 5 errors in 14 games, good for -3 runs (TZR below average). Surely he's gonna be just fine 3+ years later and who knows how many pounds heavier.

Hey, I read it. The front page articles are usually well done and give good analysis.

I appreciate that, truly. But I haven't been posting nearly enough. I kept waiting for something to happen to the Cubs that I could write about... but absolutely nothing had happened since Maholm.

It's a learning experience. Right now I'm learning how to figure out what the hell to write about. Hopefully the quality is worthwhile, at least.

Verlander makes $20.1M in 2014.

So the Tigers made themselves better in the short term, at the cost of huge long-term dollars.

In short, Prince is their Soriano. Good luck Detroit. Hopefully, that vegetarian diet pays dividends 5 years from now.

The quality is most definitely there and thank you for sticking with it.

I think you're right in that there really isn't much to write about. Perhaps semi-related things like the transition of Cuban players to America or something, given the Cubs' interest in Cespedes, Soler, Concepcion?

I kinda wish Rob had his own blog. I guess this is kind of the same thing.

Not many Cubs blogs out there with that type of analysis.

Or maybe a Rob/TT combo deal, but that might be asking too much.

I'm pretty sure that has long been a thing of the past.

Oh really? I obviously missed that.
