I don't see the point in cheering for UGA here. Highly unlikely a loss does anything to change the title game. Only a blowout would likely even put their status into question most likely.

You in particular should probably not root for Georgia, because a Georgia win likely takes Michigan out of the BCS. You would have to root for TCU not to make it up to 16 at that point because that would be the only spot available.

I realize that. I'm just talking from the average fan's perspective. I am rooting heavily against UGA (and OU and Baylor just to be safe)

Wait, if Georgia wins does that keep the SEC from having 3 teams in? Or did that get changed if the non-automatics are 1 and 2?

The latter. The only scenario where a conference can have 3 teams is if #1 and #2 are not conference champions.

I think the hope is it hurts Bama enough to push OSU ahead of them.

I guess so. It at least opens the possibility of another matchup, however small. The gap between 2 and 3 is huge though. OSU would have to really dominate OU and hope it gets the voters on their side. It seems like everyone has pretty much conceded that LSU-Bama is going to be the title game, which is different from 2006 when the media was openly against Michigan playing OSU in the title game, so it wasnt a huge surprise when Florida ended up #2.

Go Georgia, win this so the National title game is between two non conference champions.

Yeah, the best college team with a whopping 120 yards of total offense.

If they are indeed the best team then my opinion of college football just went down the toilet tonight.

A devastating blow, I'm sure.

Seriously, who is better than LSU?

Not only are they about to be undefeated, they've played as tough a schedule as anyone.

While Jefferson is not the best at QB, when you have the defense LSU has and you can run the ball like they do, you can win with mediocre QB play.

They could beat any team in the country...by far. In fact, when looking at their resume', this team might be one of the best of all time.

By far? Not so much. I thought they were pretty fortunate to get away with the win over Alabama, and if I had to put money on a rematch, I'd bet on the Tide.

Bama is the only team that can beat them. I really hope the rematch doesn't happen.

In LSU's favor, the rematch will be in New Orleans which should have a home crowd feel for LSU.

They have beaten 2 other BCS teams, one on the road and one in a neutral location, and demolished another top 10 team. They are also the only undefeated team in the country. Clearly they are the best team in the country and a sluggish offensive game against Georgia doesn't really change that.

Are they mid-90's Nebraska dominant? No, but they are damn good.

Wow, on the SEC championship game broadcast they are talking about whether LSU should get a share of the national title by the AP even if they lose in the NC game.

Even if they are defeated in the title game I'd have a hard time saying that whomever it is would deserve to be champion over LSU.

The only way would be if their opponent wins by double digits, imo. A squeaker would create a real mess.

Has there ever been a scenario where a team loses their bowl game but is still voted a share or the entire national championship?

Seems weird to vote for a team that just lost. I know the AP doesn't give 2 shits about the BCS, but it would be odd for them to devalue a bowl like that.
