Signs point to sveum going with cubs. He's the 1 guy they've interviewed twice in person. Process "moving along" Unless things change.

Fixed. Lol

Bruce Miles and Carrie Muskat reporting the same thing. Looks like Maddux is out because of family reasons.

Mike Maddux most likely out of running for #Cubs job because of family matters

yeah, sweet. now we can turn our attention to something important, like, who our baseball players will be!

maddux was my fave, gotta go with the mustache and the pitching thing, but sveum will do.

Kyle, can you post the thing about Swaim with the defensive positioning analytics pretty pretty please

How are we going to compensate Boston for stealing their first choice as manager?

Obviously by giving them Matt Garza and/or Starlin Castro.

It honestly wouldn't be out of character for them to demand more for Theo because of this move.

I don't recall an in-depth article about him specifically, but it was reported that was one of his major duties with the Red Sox over the years.

It was mentioned in passing here:

http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/alex-speier/2011/10/31/why-dale-sveum-candidate-manage-red-sox

-- Sveum took a progressive, data-driven approach to his job. As the Red Sox’ infield coach, he studied spray chart data and took a more aggressive approach to defensive shifts than virtually any other team before Joe Maddon became the manager of the Rays.

And then here's the iPad advertisement/article that did a good job getting us all excited about the idea:
