Well the tweet was legit this is it:

It's done, according to source: Hoyer to join Theo as GM of Cubs, Byrnes new GM in SD

10 minutes ago via Echofon

Yeah, it's been posted 3 times, but it's still very confusing. What's done? Hoyer? Or Theo? Or both?

In a surprise move, the Cubs have actually taken every other club's GM and formed a college of GMs.

Maybe he met the Hoyer part was done. That would certainly give the Cubs the upper hand here.

No, I'm not disputing that. Selig just used it because McCourt is running the Dodgers into the ground. What I'm saying is that it does not apply here. This is a simple trade negotiation between two members of the club. If one side is being obstinate the Commissioner has no authority to make that side be reasonable. It goes well beyond his job. He can bitch about it and say come on boys lets be reasonable here, but his job is to speak for all the owners. If he sides with the Red Sox or Cubs imagine what would happen. The other owners would not stand for it.

If he sided with one or the other, it would be sided. He may choose not to do it because he wants to maintain balance between the owners that hired him, but that does not mean it is not within his authority.

It does! I have a great time here.

Perhaps someone could throw together an FAQ and put it in the original post? That way if someone asks a question that has been "asked a million times" (give or take), they can be directed to the FAQ in the OP. Just seems like it would make things easier on everyone and cut down on a lot of the repetition.

Not only will you not check any of the dozens of news sources but you suggest that someone else summarize everything for you in a neat little FAQ section?

Wow. Hostile much?

The tone of my post was not just for me, but for all people, seeing as you said my question was answered "a million times already", and seeing as I only asked it once... you do the math. I apparently wasn't the only one to ask the question, and this would give an easy outlet to EVERYONE, not just me.

Calm down. Take some deep breaths, and go to your happy place. Think positive thoughts. (yes, I understand the irony here)

I'm rarely hostile and not now. Your asking others to spend time making your life easy when you can't be bothered to check Cot's for a GM's contract status is annoying.

You may not be hostile, but you sure do have trouble reading. Go back to the very post you responded to and see the part where I said "everyone." Go ahead. I'll wait here.

....

Done yet? Ok.

I was merely putting a suggestion out there to cut down on the repetition from everyone (there's that word again!) and not just me. If simple, well-intentioned suggestions bother you that much, you must have some issues.

He's a Boston guy, so you have to figure he's talking about the whole deal.

it means hoyer is joining theo (the new pres of baseball operations) in chicago as the gm, and byrnes is replacing hoyer at SD.

Erik doesn't have time to read through the entire thread, but would really appreciate it if mods would, and then update the first page every 3 minutes when news gets tweeted.

So we're going to do it this way, then? Ok, fine. I've got some time to kill....

It seems every writer has at least one source. Must be a pretty big bargaining table.

All of the sources are Crane Kenney, even the contradictory reports. He's just having fun dicking Cubs fans around, because he hates us.

Until the next tweet where it says the deal is not done and not even close.

Did he step in on the A-Rod trade or was that the players' union? I'm pretty sure he's denied some trade in the past 5 years or so.

That was the union and it was highly unusual because Boston was trying to restructure A-Rods payments. Selig did set a deadline though, I would imagine that's about as much as he could do here.

You know what would really cut down on the repetition if you can't keep up with the pace of the thread? Going to a news source for news instead of asking on a message board.

Oh dear lord. You're hiding laziness behind "it's good for everyone" as if the personal benefit to you is merely a byproduct?

Guy's take it easy. I think you guys are just misunderstanding each other. Take a step back, look in the mirror, and just admit you're both a little right and a lot wrong.

So was Hoyer under contract to SD? If so, do we owe them any compensation?

*sigh*

Moorad and Ricketts are buddies. Moorad loves Byrnes. Therefore, Moorad will not stand in the way of Hoyer coming to the Cubs, thereby allowing him to promote Byrnes to GM.

You sure do a lot of sighing

I do?

Yeah, but it's business. If the Red Sox are asking for an arm and a leg, the Padres should at least get a finger and a toe, especially considering that there really was no rift between Hoyer and his boss.

Guys and gals: So I flipped over to WSI and there is a dude called: "fenway" who posts there. He lives in Boston and he just posted that WBZ-FM just was told by KNBR that they have heard Ricketts has contacted Oakland to speak to Beane.

Again, this is from a guy who lives in Boston and is listening to the station. It was Posted 5 min ago.

I might puke.

He also said this:

Nick Cafardo was just on WBZ-FM and said: We are starting to learn that any report from Bruce Levine or David Kaplan is suspect
