I'm not falling for this crap again. Won't get my hopes up until the press conference starts. I feel like a chump.

The sad part is I'm 23 and I've been a Cubs fan my whole life.

:banghead:

What's sad about that? You're like the youngest person here, unless Roast is still 16.

I wonder if the Cubs will consider hiring Hoyer before hiring Theo if this does drag out further.

That's the point where I'm at now. I think their philosophies are identical. I don't see Hoyer doing anything in the next 12 months that wouldn't fall right in line with what Theo would've done if he were here.

I'd also love to hear Peter Gammons spin how the Red Sox are in the right to hold an employee hostage for 12 months from taking an obvious promotion with another team out of pure, unadulterated spite.

The Red Sox are going to come out of this offseason smelling like a rose. If they think being obstinate here is going to recoup some of the luster lost in recent weeks, they're insane. That franchise is beginning to look like real joke, and that's coming from a Cubs fan.

Can you imagine if they make Theo sit around on his thumbs for a year just because they can, and then ever need something from the Cubs after Theo becomes prez?

I'be really curious to hear some thoughts from around the league on this, but I'd bet this is having a negative impact on the perception of how the Sox do business.

Epstein Limbo Day 8

Odds of deal completion: 80%

Page goal: 20

Topics of conversation: Chicago media's bizarre reverse boner for Crane Kenney, attempts by the Red Sox to spin the Cubs as incompetent, trying to learn to love Ryne Sandberg.

Definitely reaching the page goal. Almost no talk of Ryno. Some stuff about Kenney. Red Sox are giant jerks.

You must be new to the fandom of the Cubs. We are all Charlie Brown, but one day soon we'll get the little red headed girl.

Can we chip in and get Ricketts a medal or something for dealing with these people? They make the Steinbrenner-era Yankees look sane.

It has to have a negative impact regardless of the outcome. By all accounts, Theo is one of the most respected people in baseball. They've crapped the bed so bad there appears no bottom for them.

Can we get TT to give Hollandsworth's mug a Men in Blue style warning?

That warning still makes me giggle.

"A picture, a real big one"

Soooo, you get your "giggles" when mods give out warnings? Must have a fun life.

Leave me alone, those were my only glory days and they were short lived.

You get yours from posting random pictures that have little to do with anything and then pretending they're funny.

Pretty sure that place doesn't exist.

I have a vague memory of seeing it once, but it might have been a dream within a dream.
