Cubs Randy Bush and Red Sox AGM Ben Cherington negotiating compensation. Both ownerships overseeing process. MLB must approve

Kaplan

How about Cherington for Bush? Seems fair.

10/13/2011: Randy Bush agrees to send Brett Jackson, Trey McNutt, and Matt Szczur to the Red Sox as compensation

10/14/2011: Ben Cherington officially named New Red Sox GM

10/15/2100: Ben Cherington names Randy Bush his assistant GM.

Brett Jackson breaks all of Ted Williams' records.

Trey McNutt becomes the new Bob Gibson.

Matt Szcur becomes the new Carl Yaztremski.

Theo Epstein changes everything about the Cubs and they average 95 wins per season for 2012-2016, make the playoffs every year, and lose in the first round every year.

Johnny Carson had emphysema. Johnny Carson was fun.

Wow, a GM who actually understands that the key to game is getting on base and quite probably will draft baseball players. No more Tyler Colvins or great athletes who swing first and ask questions later.

They can have them all, throw in Quade as well.

Did we reach the point of no question mark?

Not until the press conference.

The one naming Cherington the Red Sox' new GM.

I'm ready for that moment, with the microphone and podium and all the Cubs logos in the background.

Theo beginning his reign of terror on the rest of the NL Central.

How much longer until this thing is done? Tonight, tomorrow morning? Surely it won't stretch on longer than that. Dammit just give em vitters or jackson and get THEO IS GOD up on the podium for Press Conference No. 1: The Beginning of True Greatness

From everything I've heard, within 48 hours.

That'll do. Friday press conference, have a happy weekend.

Isn't Monday the off day before the World Series? If so, that will probably be the press conference day, with an announcement coming sometime Thursday afternoon or Friday.

Skyrocket? Because we hired a GM? Not likely.

Because we're going to be winning 95 games every year.

??? Boston didn't win 95 every year.

Yeah but we are now Boston's big brother in all areas.

Did anyone post this earlier? Paula Faris is NBC-5 sports girl

paulafaris Paula Faris

Not expecting a #CUBS press conference today. Players I've spoken with love the reported Theo hiring. The move "brings serious stability".

Not much news but good to see the players are thrilled

so, when i went to bed this thread was 10 pages long. i understand that Theo is coming to chicago but his contract and title havent been announced yet and neither has bostons compensation. it also seems that there is heavy speculation that ryno is theo's choice for manager. is there any other information in the nearly 40 pages of posts since i crashed?(other than nsbb collectively beating off)

Maybe, but I think the presser is more a formality at this point for us faithful Cub fans. Any stealing of the spotlight from the playoffs already happened, for better or worse.

I don't think Sandberg will actually wind up being manager.

Other than that, we're basically freaking out getting wasted and loving it.

They didn't get to face the NL Central (minus Pujols and/or Fielder)

Absolutely none, but so many hopes and dreams can be read.

I can't celebrate until official...

Okay he's got 5 years let's see if he wins 95 every year. That's a bold statement and im pretty sure you'll be wrong.

Sounds like Theo will be President of Baseball Ops, Kenney will be President of Business Ops, and both report directly to the Ricketts.

Didn't say they'd immediately do it. Eventually we will reach a point where we are dominating the division and winning 95 games every year. At worst, 90. I'm fairly confident of that.

thanks for the distilling it down, i didnt feel like slogging through 30+ pages of celebratory posts, not with this hang over anyway.
