Changing topics a bit, did it look like Angelo was about to [expletive] a brick when they showed him on camera early in the game last night? Hands over his face, he looked awfully stressed out.

He was frightened.

I like the idea of giving up a big pick for Marshall, other than the fact that there are indications Cutler has been against the idea.

Have there? Any links to that?

The only reason I could see people thinking this way was the incident when they played each other last year where Marshall got a first down and tossed the ball to Cutler on the sidelines, but from all indications, that was done in good fun not as a means of antagonizing Cutler.

Nothing to do with that. He's been asked on more than one occasion specifically about bringing Marshall here and he's been pretty ho-hum on the idea.

cutler has been fairly boring and diplomatic with the media since he's been here, though. the most controversial thing he's ever said is "i don't know, i don't know" when asked if he could survive the season with lineplay like this.

To an extent. But he's lobbied for things like shorter drops and realizing what they can and cannot do.

As I said, it may be reading between the lines, but when you combine the fact that Marshall is certifiably crazy with what Cutler has said when asked about him, it seems to me that at the very least he's not recommending the guy to management.

Saw this on MSN.com re: Hester's injury

...now Chicago will wake up Monday wondering how long its most dynamic — and arguably most important — player will be out.

Who is arguing that Hester is the Bears most important player?

Start with the list of people who hate Cutler.

Yeah that's dumb.

I'd prefer for the WR's to stop getting chest injuries now.

Conte didn't look slow to me out there, I kept seeing his jersey everywhere. Major Wright was a a reliable tackler. Unless I missed something. No 70+ yard plays. I'm a big fan of this youth infusion, the defense needs it. Paea looked very solid and surprisingly quick off the line and in stunts. What happened to Henry Melton?

Lance Louis needs to keep playing. And it sure was nice to experience an All-Pro like LG for a game. Williams was beastly.

I saw Cutler in the bathroom this morning and asked him what he thought about trading for Brandon Marhsall and he just looked up in the air and moaned "DONT CARE" as he continued peeing, so I think he's ok with it.

Cutler isn't responding to Marshall speculation probably because he's more concerned with the o-line at this point. He has decent WR's, and get plenty of passing yards when he has time-sometimes even when he doesn't have time. He probably feels the o-line is a much bigger focus of need.

with the way Cutler spreads the ball around, how much of a difference would Marshall really make?

If we're going to only send out a couple of guys out in patterns to help protect we could really use a stud out wide that can win battles in traffic. I mean we could use that anyway but I'd be all for getting Marshall and leaving extra men in protection.

I have to think significantly. Can you imagine that jump ball in the endzone thrown to Marshall instead of Knox?

The o-line and play-calling will be paramount but a certified #1 WR can be just as helpful.

Potentially an incredible amount of difference. I've been saying all along you either have to make the line very good or give him a game changing receiver he can trust. You can't give him a crap line with nothing but mediocre receivers. Having that type of receiver could make it very difficult on defenses.

I guess my impression of Marshall isn't a Calvin Johnson type - who I would consider "un-coverable". And with the way the O-line is, the CJ WR type is the kind you would have to have in order to make up the difference in how bad the line is.

I'd love to have a true #1 WR, but I want a responsible trade for Marshall if it were to happen.

Exactly. Right now the Bears have WRs who take 5 seconds to get open and an OL that can't pass block for 5 seconds. If the OL blocks for 3 seconds, well then WRs are not open.

Marshall's a big bodied guy who isn't afraid to go over the middle or get hit. He can knock DBs on their ass after the catch. He's gone over 1000 yards each of the last four years and will probably do it again this season. He might not be the most elite WR out there, but he'd be a game changer for our offense.

Well if Lloyd is setting the price of WR's, he was traded to the Rams for a 6th that turns into a 5th if he meets a certain yardage threshold.

Is Marshall even on the block? Where is this coming from? I've wanted him badly ever since Cutler came here and it doesn't appear the Bears have ever come close to acquiring him.

meaning Marshall could be had for a #3 or 4 (assuming he could be had)? do it.

Total Bears fan fantasy. There were rumors about a year and a half ago that the Bears were interested in him, and then there was this blog post in the last week, but it was just a suggestion.

Anyway, don't hold your breath.
