Didn't Terry Francona have a brief stint with the Cubs?

edit: It was '86

Well, sure, but did he sleep with Cindy Sandberg?

This might be the greatest thread of all time for a lifelong 38 year old cub fan. What a trip down memory lane. Does anyone remember Kal Daniels first game--I pretty sure he pinch hit and came and got a double. I was so pumped, then the next batter followed with a single, but Daniels got eaten by a grass goblin and went tumbling down about half way to home plate and the cubs lose!!! ALso, Orlando Merced--who could forget that he wasnt eligible for playoff roster, but he hit s game-winning homer against the brewers during that playoff chase.

I am going to add a couple that i have not yet seen:

Fernando Ramsey--i think obscure

Gary Gaetti--not obscure, but in the category of "they were only a cub for a moment"

Damon Buford--was he in the 90s? Anyone remember how cool he used to signal how many outs to other OFers?

Jose Vizcaino--not really obscure, but I have to share about how mad Harry used to get everytime he swung. I remember the 1-0 opening day game between Maddux (braves) and Tapanin (I am not sure it was tapani). Anyways, Vizcaino swung at a 3-0 pitch and harry shouted out: "where the hell is he gonna hit it anyways?!?!?!?"

Ahhh, good memories

I'm like 99% sure Tapani and Vizcaino were never on the same Cubs team.

I know this because Vizcaino was before my time and Tapani was signed once I was a big fan already.

Looks like Vizcaino's last year on the Cubs was 93.... and Maddux was a Cub til 92. So that must've been opening day 93, which means Mike Morgan was starting.

Damn... they had us face Atlanta on Opening Day the very next year after Maddux jumped ship? Nasty.

At least Guzman didn't have to face him.

Yeah, that was indeed 1993.

Here's an interesting tidbit......... the CUBS and Braves have been in the NL, and playing each other for 136 years, but the schedule makers only saw fit to have them open the season against each other 5 times in 136 years........

Gam# Date Opponent Score
001 Tue 04/17/1956 @ Milwaukee 0- 6
001 Tue 04/16/1957 Milwaukee 1- 4
001 Tue 04/05/1988 @ Atlanta N 10- 9
001 Mon 04/05/1993 Atlanta 0- 1
001 Mon 04/05/2010 @ Atlanta 5-16

The CUBS won 1 out of 5.

Go CUBS !!

jim bullinger

:D

Man, Bullinger was one of my favorite Cubs, largely because he was one of the first baseball cards I ever had.

Julio Zuleta.

2000's...and no way is he obscure with that weird jobu stuff.

Unless you're one of those weird people who considers 2000 the last year of the 1990's, which I guess is technically correct.

I'd say Ricky Gutierrez, but he wasn't on the Cubs until 2000, even though his most memorable moment for me came in 1998.
