We had a really good OT. Lots of good pressure. That was entirely acceptable, especially the result :)

Gotta be a little demoralizing to give up the game tying goal with less than 15 seconds 2 games in a row and have to leave home tied despite playing pretty well.

If the Hawks can take care of their defensive end they're better than Phoenix no matter how Phoenix plays.

Hell yeah!!! The holding, hooking, slashing can only hold back talent, speed for so long, it's about f**king time!!!!!!!

That's right man. You can only CHEAT for so long before true TALENT wins out!!

And the Coyotes, I guess not surprisingly, have the nerve to seek supplemental discipline on Shaw after Smith declared himself "100 percent."

So I guess based on precedent, Shanahan will do nothing.

It's a two-minute minor. That's all. If that bitch hadn't done his Italian soccer player act, that might have been all it was.

If you're hit in the head and really stunned, the reaction isn't to roll around grabbing your head and kicking your legs around. Get a better acting coach, [expletive].

P.S., someone needs to lay out Raffi Torres.

At the start of Game 3 the Hawks better be flying. Got the momentum now. And props to Crawford. He's playing very well.

yea that was a joke. i liked how he threw his gloves off and started grabbing his face mask.

And then was scene on camera wiping his nose and rubbing his head like nothing happened.

Also, I'm not too worried about Shaw:

I know Phoenix was 5 seconds away from being up 2-0 but, think about what lead to half of their goals thus far. Last night two PP goals both PP's as a result of incidental contact with goalie. Their third goal - 6 men on the ice - its not as if Phoenix has dominated the play but, stands at 1-1 because of some bad luck.

I'm wondering if Smith' little acting job might lead to an embellishment penalty in the future? I'm certain the film was reviewed and it was obvious an acting job was going on so, I'm thinking the officials might be alerted to consider or look out for it?

Not taking sides but I think Shaw is going to be suspended for a game.

He shouldn't be. That's a two-minute minor for Shaw -- a definite penalty. But Smith embellished the hit, there was no injury, it was unintentional, and Shaw was already severely punished. Moreover, the Hawks have legitimate reffing gripes. The missed Too Many Men on the Ice call led to a goal, as did the terrible Goalie Interference call on Toews (Smith *hit* Toews outside of the crease and Toews did nothing). Adding a suspension to this would be fuel for the fire.

Keep in mind, Weber just got a fine for bashing Zetterberg's head into the boards. That was clearly, clearly, clearly worse in every way than this hit.

That would be outrageous. And besides, Smith isn't hurt. He never was.

I wasn't saying he should have, just that I thought he would. I had a feeling that the NHL powers to be were thinking that player discipline was getting away from them. I was thinking that they would put the hammer down for all of Saturdays antics and such. I think they are going to cringe but I think they are going to hammer the Pens also.

I would say a 5 minute major which directly led to a goal when he should have been given a 2 minute minor is sufficient punishment when Shaw obviously didn't mean to hurt him.

I don't think you can think about suspensions/punishments in those terms. You can't reason "well, nobody got hurt so it wasn't that bad" or "they already got punished enough by giving up a goal in the ensuing penalty". The act is the act, independent of what the outcome was. To take another example, the Saints bounty program didn't really hurt anyone, but that doesn't matter in the context of how seriously it violated NFL policies.

Once they let that first nonsense go with a measly fine, it was inevitably going to devolve into mayhem. These guys have heard nothing but "no head shots and no shenanigans" all season long, and the first thing that happens in the playoffs is it all gets thrown out the window, so let it rip.

They'll probably use Shaw as an example to try to get it under control :(
