because he's probably saying whatever he's saying without any knowledge of anything which would make him a clown

I have admittedly kind of haphazardly followed the Darvish saga, but is there really anything to go on that suggests the Cubs really have a shot at this?

I know they have bid, but I guess we will know soon.

Brett's source reported it was a substantial bid that could win. Cubs bid amount was never really reported/speculated on by the media like the others.

Fits the profile of a guy Theo would want (and I think Theo has been interested in him for years now - not that that's saying much).

But there was also a report that the Cubs bid was very small and we ha no illusions of winning, adding more to my long running theory that Theo and Jed just like [expletive] with the media.

Say the Cubs get Darvish, does that increase the probability of a Garza trade or decrease it?

how do you know he doesn't have knowledge? you're assuming that because he's not a big name or whatever.

i'm not saying i believe him, but im not sure why people are assuming he's doing something that should make you dislike him.

just kinda weird to me

A report by the same guy who thought Starlin Castro was fair compensation for Theo and has basically had nothing but sour grapes for the Cubs since this whole thing started?

Sorry if I don't have a lot of belief in Cafardo. Makes a lot of sense for the Cubs to make a bid that they know doesn't have a chance in hell of winning.

Is there any real indication there will be an announcement soon? Who will do it and in what form?

yeah, i'm not really clear on who the [expletive] actually knows what team won at this point

I'm about 95% sure he knows nothing and is just saying what he thinks is likely to happen so that some of his followers will believe he broke a big story. In my mind there is a 5% chance he has any actual real information. That is my opinion.

The rumors last night and today were that the Ham Fighters were expected to accept the highest bid tonight (Tuesday morning in Japan) and that winning team would be announced shortly thereafter.

It sounds like the Ham Fighters will announce their acceptance of the winning bid themselves, and then MLB will announce which team made that bid (since the Fighters don't know the identity of the bids). What form that will appear in, I have no idea.

Opinions and reports are separate.

Unless you have an agenda.

If nothing else it would mean that both the Rangers and Jays missed out and the value of every front end starter on the trading block just went up in value with 2 teams with strong farm systems and the obvious need for a front end starter.

you're 95% sure of something that has no evidence whatsoever behind it?

the point is that you're assuming this guy is being a [expletive] just because a lot of guys on twitter act like dickheads

Even so, I doubt that he'd risk his professional reputation by spreading false rumors and trying to pass them as actual news because he has an agenda. It's not like saying that The Cubs made a weak offer would have any bearing on the actual bid.

That's not terribly unusual.

Did I say anything about wanting him to eat crow?

Yes, I'm 95% sure of something that has no evidence whatsoever behind it. I don't have to see evidence for and against every possibility out there to determine whether some of them are BS or are legit.

Think about how certain sportswriters in Chicago have "reported" on certain members of the Cubs and post that same thing again.

btw, i put no stock whatsoever in what that guy said because there's no reason for me to believe or disbelieve him.

i'm just saying it's funny how people get all mad at people who say anything that might not be good news for the cubs.

Their MO isn't to make stuff up. It's to act like what their personal goats do is different from what their favorite white athletes do.
