I fully understand the need for a savior for Cub fans, but baseball doesn't work that way, and anyone not in a position of authority is merely expressing an opinion. Nobody knows who a prospect is except the guys in charge.

And those who've been in the hot box.

I know this doesn't really fit but this thread somehow put it in my mind. Does anyone still have that story about these nerds and their damn stats?

Something like, so I'm at the game right, and Manny Ramirez comes up to bat. And this little kid is like daddy daddy Manny is hitting .300 and I just freakin lost it, man. These nerds and their damn stats.

I also remember this part: And your buddy is wearing a shirt and no pants, and I was like, he's Donald Ducking it bra, it's classic.

On-base percentages, opponent on-base plus slugging percentages, sabermetrics … Alan Greenspan might enjoy crunching the numbers, but for those of us who’d rather leave our brains at work, the cold-beverage-intake-to-bladder-outflow ratio makes a whole lot more sense.

Bra. Seriously, bra. [expletive] these nerds. For serious. True story, bra -- I'm at the game yesterday. I'm wasted. Seriously, bra, I've had like eleven brews. I'm there with my boy Donnie -- awesome guy. Solid guy. The papers call him the "Laundry Room Rapist." So Donnie's like, "Bra, you want another one?" And I'm like, "Shitchyea, dude! I ain't driving!" And Donnie's all, "Bra, you are driving, remember?" And I was like, "Ohhhh [expletive]!" And we high-five, right?

So basically everything was awesome. We were crushing it, bra. And then, this little [expletive] nerd in front of us is like, "Can you be careful? You're spilling beer on my daughter's head," and I'm like, "Whatever dude -- it's a ballgame. Shut up and enjoy the ride!" and he's like, "Just try to be more considerate," and then his little nerd son is like, "Daddy, look, Manny's up!" and his nerd dad is like, "Let's go Manny!" and his nerd son is like, "His batting average is down to .288" and that's when I just lost it, bra. Those [expletive] nerds and their numbers. So I pull my rod out -- you know, because I have to piss, right? -- and the guy is all, "Hey! You can't do that here!" and I'm like, "Sorry, nerdbra, the only statistic I care about is how many brewskis I've had and how much piss I've pissed" and the next thing you know security is dragging me out and they're all like, "You're banned for life" and I'm like, "Bra, what the hell?" and they're like "You pulled your penis out and urinated at your seat and there's vomit on your forearm, and also you can't smoke in the stadium, and your friend is wearing a shirt and shoes but no pants," and I'm like "He's Donald Ducking it, bra -- it's classic!" and they're like, "Get out of here and never come back."

And that's when I realized: nerds have ruined baseball.

Aw man. You mean I've been wasting my time with these threads?

*Sigh*

MY LIFE IS OVER.

Ryan Gripp, Jason Dubois, Brandon Sing, Kevin Collins, Ryan Norwood, David Kelton, Micah Hoffpauir, Scott Moore, Matt Craig, Jake Fox, Kyle Reynolds

Yikes, what a list, although one would have to assume that if all these guys were given the chance to play close to full time, we'd have pulled out a few Jack Cust or Russ Branyan types.

I'm not going to lie, when I first started somewhat following the minor leagues, Brandon Sing was one of the first guys that caught my eye. Didn't realise how hard he fell off a cliff as soon as he hit AAA though. Probably what we have to look forword to from Jones and Bour.

And just for the heck of it, I BBRd Sing, and apparently, in 2010 he had a .349/.482/.702/1.184 line with 27 HR for Siux Falls of the Indy league.

I still remember Ryan Gripp's amazing season at Lansing: .333 .416 .526 .942. He was a third round pick too, but couldn't get out of AA.

Don't forget Die Hard, idiot.

Really? A decade of failed prospects that people got excited about because they put up great stats in A ball. Jones cant even compare to some of those guys.

He is doing exactly what you'd expect a 23 year old 1B to do in the Midwest League. He is the definition of an organizational guy. He (and Rohan earlier in the season) has been used to prop up a bad Peoria offense so that the club has a chance to win and to keep fans coming to games.

My guess is that he is not familiar with AAAA legend Scott McClains nickname.

Sorry, I thought the idiot comment was meant for me. And yes I am familiar with the legendary Die Hard.

I've been following this board for years and between AZPhil and here I can find everything that I would ever want to know about the Cubs minor leagues. It just seems the past couple months there have been several ridiculous posts and I felt the need to respond to one of them.

Really, what could a handful of internet nerds in their mothers' basement possibly teach you about minor leaguers?
