michael brantley is still talking about "clutch"?

i don't think he's allowed to talk about that word after the edwin encarnacion incident a few years ago

Brandon Phillips hitting a walk-off HR against the Cards? My only disappointment is that Brennaman didn't use the word "bitches".

That call was horrible, but I don't even think it was more annoying than Hawk's call on every home run

That was my thinking also. I'm sure Hawk has a ton of walk off calls that are at least equally as annoying as this one.

Personally, I thought it was great.

We're watching it in the context of a snapshot.

What lead up to the call? We're missing the energy that lead up to it. Look at how the fans were on their feet. before the pitch.

We didn't see the previous batter, or any batter that inning. We didn't even see previous pitches. We're going in cold. The scene was not set.

BTW, the outcome of that HR is the Pirates are in first place.

It's a good call, much as I don't like Brennaman.

Plus, it's always loads of fun to see the Cardinals get beat late.

Anyone got video of that Pirates S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y, HEY! call? That's an example of bad walkoff fare.

I have a thing with broadcasters. I want excitement, but professionalism. The Pirates announcers are the worst I have heard. Boring and dry when the opponent scores, over-excited and cheerleading when the Pirates score. Brennamen is just a blatant homer, his call wasn't on the Pirates or Ken Harrelson level, I admit. Guys that keep it somewhat neutral and actually call the play are the best - that's all i ask for.

you must [expletive] hate Len's "Hey Hey" call of the Edmonds homer

 ... a special call on a special day. Great example.

Why would you want hometown announcers to be neutral? They SHOULD be homers.

This. I can't stand Brennaman but I loved the way he called that home run.

Right. It just strikes me as bizarre to be mad when a hometown announcer gets excited over his team having a walk-off win. Sure, it was pretty a pretty hacky call, but Aramis Fan seems pissed that he's excited over it, period.
