You'll still have the Disney on Ice trip in February, though. And with the compacted schedule, who knows how many games that road trip will be?

I'm just glad that there's going to be a season.

YES!!!!!

I thought a shortened schedule would bother me but the fact is we know who the best teams are after 66 games and most teams stop trying at that point (until the playoffs obviously) anyways

Opening day will be Christmas, including Bulls/Lakers.

The Pacers are in a strange spot now. They have to spend money to reach the cap floor (probably 10-12 million). But the free agents this year are not going to be as good as the ones next year so they might try to entice some people with large 1 year deals and really use the cap space to go after a difference maker next year. It's also hard to figure out what position to upgrade because their team is so young that it really depends on which players develop more and which don't.

They are still rumored for the big power forwards in this class though (West and Nene especially). The amnesty clause came at the worst time for them after they spent 4-5 years systematically getting rid of all their bad contracts.

Resign Dunleavy to another 10 million dollar contract

Likely to be only a 2 game preseason.

The NBA says that teams will play out-of-conference opponents at least once each, with three teams getting a second meeting. Of the other 12 out-of-conference opponents, six will be faced at home and six on the road.

The other 48 games will be played within the conference. There are six teams who will share four meetings with any given team, and the other eight with play three-game sets.

The NBA also says that the playoffs will begin on April 28, and that there could be one back-to-back per series in the second round.

OTOH, cap space next offseason will be affected somewhat by your decisions on Hibbert and Rush. Rush would be easy enough to let go but it would hurt to let Hibbert go and then strike out. As a competent 7 footer his price wont be cheap. Plus extendin other young guys comes into play in the folliwing seasons. Perhaps the best solution is to take on salary now to get a big piece, giving up a couple young players to get that impact player now.

There's a lot of buzz about trading for Millsap of the Jazz right now since their frountcourt is overloaded. I don't know how legitimate that rumor is. They won't have any problem getting rid of Rush (they've almost traded him multiple times) but Hibbert will definitely cost some money to extend. They will have some more money with Posey's contract coming off the books after the year. The Pacers might pick up an amnestied player as well since those players are apparently not going to be free agents, but instead there will be bidding from among the teams who are under the cap.

That's placing a ton of emphasis on conference games, as in a regular season a team will play 52 conference games and 30 non conference.

Weighing the season towards a high proportion of conference games is a way to cut down on travel when you consider that there will be more games scheduled per week.

Hey SSR, do you think E'Twaun Moore will make the Celtics roster? I read that he's coming back from Italy for camp.

Yeah, I am all for the extra conference games, and I would have gone that way if it was my decision. Just pointing out that it will almost be a normal season in terms of playing conference foes, while the majority of the games taken away will be against the opposite conference.
