Miami shot nearly 50% from the field, perfect from the line, Bosh went for 30/9, Rose was inefficient and had 4 TOs...and the Bulls won by 21.

They shot 37.5% from 3, too.

Also, Rose had one turnover in the last 44 minutes.

Still, for the Bulls to win by 21 you'd think the Heat would have had to play terrible or the Bulls would have had to shoot lights out...and neither happened (OK, the Bulls shot 48% from 3 point range, but 42% from the field overall).

The best part of the win is that the offensive rebounds and overall defense would seem to be more or less repeatable with solid instead of lucky play.

the heat's rebounding was a joke. watch the gibson putback dunk as a prime example - there were two guys with a body on asik yet he still had inside position, and one other heat guy was halfheartedly running back toward the hoop but was nowhere close to blocking out gibson. i don't know what second chance points were but they gave up 18 offensive boards.

Bulls shooting 48% from 3 doesnt surprise me with the looks they were getting out there. Seemed like almost all the 3s were wide open

Most of it was because Wade was practically non-existent tonight. Which, of course, probably won't happen the rest of the series.

Also of note, the Bulls defensive strategy was interesting, basically letting Boozer (or Gibson) deal with Bosh 1 on 1, and keeping everyone else focused on stopping both Wade and James, under the assumption that even if Bosh went off (which he did), Bosh alone wouldn't win them the game.

Stats of the night: Miami only had 10 transition points, and 8 of them were in the first quarter. They also ran 14 isolation offensive sets, 8 of which were in the third quarter, all of which combined resulted in 2 points.

The Heat have allowed a playoff opponent to get 19+ offensive boards eight times in their playoff history. Five of those have been the Bulls.

meh i guess it's cool to see gibson dunking over one of the nba's top stars, but it's not like wade could really do much about it. it was a 3-on-1 breakout and wade had to stop the guy with the ball first. he didn't have a chance and his options were to get dunked over or move out of the way and let him dunk.

Wonder how many besides tonight have been post-Jordan.

he foolishly went up for the block and gave taj a free throw attempt to go with his dunk

That was the first time post-Jordan. Bulls also improved to 17-5 all time in the playoffs against the Heat.

and taj looked like he went up just inside the free throw line, i mean, generally, what happens is the guy gets fouled and misses the dunk and has to earn it from the free throw line. taj completed the dunk on one of the best and most athletic players in the nba, got fouled, and had a three-point play.

make no mistake, wade wasn't in a helpless position, it wasn't a given by any stretch that taj was going to get to the rim.

Is it? Is it of "note?"

I expect them to let Noah neutralize Bosh, and focus on shutting down one of James/Wade as much as possible, banking on one superstar alone not being enough to win.

Boozer and Gibson will guard Bosh, just as they did during the 3 regular season matchups and I suspect, like in the 3 reg season matchups, Thibs will employ his standard defense and challenge the non-basketball mega gods to beat them.

Not that I'm some basketball sage. I just, you know, watch the games and pay attention.

i think the refs let them play for the most part tonight, which is why the bulls were able to pull off such a lopsided victory in the end, i can't assume that it will be like that in the future, though. in fact, i can guarantee that it won't.

this is a huge series for the NBA.

yep. This is why they busted their ass for the 1 seed. Hopefully it continues to pay off.

Apparently you have some weird issue with me, but hey, you were right.

I prefer the dunk at the end.

Yeah, but the only guy he posterized in that one was Omer.

I loved that play. Asik was about to get the rebound and Taj basically stole it from him. His arm was basically parallel to the ground as he swung it back to the rim. God, that was awesome.
