Gottlieb told me to stop tweeting about things I know nothing about when I told him Iowa wasn't going to make the NCAA tournament because of their terrible RPI and bad losses. I thought it was ironic.

 

You also said Iowa State might have their best team ever next year and Korie Lucious is a true PG, so he may be right.

 

Regarding Iowa, his whole point was if they won out and got one in the Big Ten Tournament, they could definitely steal a bid. At 19-14, 10-8 in the best conference in the country and with 4 top 25 wins he was probably right.

 

They are going to be damn good next year, especially if they can get Norvel Pelle.

how the [expletive] is colorado state's rpi 24? they are 6-6 in mountain west (6th best conference maybe?) and their best non-conference efforts are getting smoked by duke and so miss. and they have the 6th best SOS in the nation??? what the hell.

I just don't know about NU. If they win at Iowa (which is a really not something that can benefit Northwestern at all. Iowa is obviously really tough at home but even if NU wins its not a win that's going to show up on anyones radar), they are 18-12 (8-10), and 2-10 against the top 50 RPI.

 

If the season ended right now, they'd be the 8 seed and matched up against the 9 seed Illinois in the Big Ten tournament. I don't think beating Illinois and then losing in the next round is going to do much for NU. If they could win in the next round then its a different story.

 

I hope I'm wrong, but I really think Northwestern needed to win against either Michigan or Ohio State to get in (unless they go on a run in the BTT). As it stands right now they just don't have very many "good" wins.
