Hearing now that charges were dropped against Byrd, and all players practiced today except Barlow. Barlow allegedly started the altercation and was already suspended last year. Wouldn't surprise me if he is kicked off the team.

Looks like Ronnie Johnson may be manning the point from day one.

Dammit. Barlow was doing a good job of staying out of trouble this year, too.

Yeah, even if he's just too hungover after last night (they were out celebrating his 21st) that still can't sit well with Painter. My gut says he's gone, what a waste. He was going to be key next year.

DJ Byrd just appears to be a giant douchebag, so I wasn't surprised at all to hear that he was arrested last night. True bro right there.

Barlow started it and Byrd was backing up a teammate. Byrd might be a 'bro', but Barlow is the problem. I think it's all but official now that Barlow is kicked off the team. Multiple people saying it, just nothing official from Painter. Byrd has no history of behavior problems.

If Barlow is gone, at least one can give Painter credit for having the integrity to kick Barlow off the team for causing problems. A lot of schools would've looked the other way. Especially because Barlow wasn't even arrested.

I understand he has that he-shouldn't-be-scoring-that-many-points-against-my-team-because-he's-not-that-good quality to him. I hate those types of players with a passion unless they play for a team I root for. I don't understand where how he comes across as a douchebag. Maybe I'm too close to the situation? The soft comment he made is kinda douchetastic I guess (although I find it pretty funny personally).

Eh... if it is indeed true and Barlow is dismissed, I don't think Painter should be getting brownie points for it.

i don't get why the soft comment was that funny. meyers was whining for a call, so what? everyone does it.

It's funny because it's a basketball player saying it to another basketball player. Also, Byrd had to look up to tell somebody they're soft. Mostly though, the way the report stated that he stared Leonard down while doing is a visual that I can't help but giggle about. It really had nothing to do with what Leonard did or didn't do.

You think he should get another chance? He knew where he stood with the program and went out and got trashed on his birthday. I know he's a 21 year old kid but it's a pattern of behavior. Byrd on the other hand had a clean record. You can't be too rough on a kid when his first offense is a PI. It's not a DUI or battery or drugs, etc.

No, I think it was the right move. I just don't think Painter should be given any kind of credit for making the decision he made.

The Byrd public intox is a non-event to me. For some reason, the West Lafayette cops like to nab the Purdue athletes for this. I remember when Stu Schweigert got a public intox his senior year and it was a huge story on campus. The guy was walking home drunk... so what? If I had a nickle for every time I did that as a college student...

I liked Barlow on the court. The guy was a personification of Purdue's tenacious defense. If he can't keep his off the court priorities in order though, especially after being given a second chance, then he shouldn't be put in a position to hurt the team again. Bring on a new commitment for next year.

Can we get another year out of Hummell?

let's get to the important issue...are either of these punks good enough at basketball that iowa state would want them?

Well played.

Barlow might actually be a good fit. He just posterized Sullinger last week, probably my favorite Purdue play of the year.

ISU won't have Royce White around to make them look better.

Oh who am I kidding. Ever since OU found Billy Gillespie's liquor cabinet in Lubbock the season has been over.

I think you have to give Painter credit because it was such a tough call to make and sends a message.

I don't think we can take anyone for next year unless it's a 1 year transfer deal because we're already at 13 scholarships for 2013. Unless someone leaves or Marcius doesn't get his 5th year or something.

No joke, I talked to Stu on the phone from jail that night. My buddy was in the cell with him and was too drunk to talk. Stu called on his behalf and we went down to bail my buddy out.

I keep looking at an outdated scholarship grid that does not have Hammons on there yet.

They're going to have some serious point issues next year with only the Johnson brothers really capable. I like Ronnie but if anyone gets hurt we're really thin.

Can Ronnie shoot FTs any better than Terone? That could lead to some very interesting ends of games if your 2 ballhandlers can't shoot free throws.

He's a better shooter yes, but TJ didn't really have the FT shooting problem in high school so I don't know how it happened. Good point though, it's kind of hard to have TJ on the floor as your primary ball handler in crunch time when he's a sub 50% FT shooter. Ronnie is going right into the fire.
