To clarify, I meant the entire state, collapses into the earth, just forming a giant hole in the ground to the east of Illinois. It'd be inconvenient for driving out east, but we all need to sacrifice for the greater good.

DePaul is 8-3 and already have more wins than they had all of next season, but have beaten 4 putrid teams in a row (Loyola, Chicago St, NIU, and Arkansas Pine Bluff). They play a decent Cal Poly team that has beaten USC and Fresno State tomorrow. Real Time RPI is predicting a win tomorrow and a 5-13 Big East campaign for a 14-16 overall record. That's pretty good progress if it happens.

So I brainfarted and thought the Illinois game was tonight. Any sort of description of what went wrong for those who watched it?

PS I hope Indiana collapses, it'd be really fun.

PS Kansas lost to Davidson??? At least there's that.

Guys weren't really up for the game, bench was useless.

Cornell (like UNLV) played a collapsing zone the whole game, and the best way to combat that is to run them off the court and beat their defense to being set, which Illinois just refused to do the entire game. If any team going forward doesn't just sit in a zone the whole game against the Illini, they're making a huge mistake.

Heh..

IU is far from being a collection of world beaters. But it is "fun" (to use your words) that IU has come back from the abyss to have a comparable team to Illinois a lot sooner than anyone thought.

I'm kind of surprised they managed to put up 64 after that description.

Well, Leonard came to play, and Richardson/Paul came to play in the last three minutes. That's the only reason they pulled it out at the end.

Same team next year minus Meyers. This is purgatory.

Not that they will be needed, but Derek Elston and Will Sheehey out for IU on Thursday. Elston had surgery for a broken nose and Sheehey apparently has an ankle issue. Those B1G openers just got a whole lot tougher, especially if Sheehey is going to miss significant time.

Almost a week until the MSU game. I'd think Sheehey would be back by then.

I sure hope so. Even so, I doubt he'll be fully recovered by then.

Not yet excited because their SOS is still putrid, but if they get even 5 wins in the Big East, they would be 14-16, which is double their win total from last year. Pretty good progress and 7 of their top 9 guys are freshmen & sophomores and they lost 2 frontcourt guys for the season and lost two incoming freshmen due to grades/transfer before the season.

Anything less than an NIT berth next season will likely be a disappointment. They'll never be great, but Purnell should have them back to respectability soon.

At least they are watchable now.

OK 1st half for IU. Losing Sheehey has been an issue. Roth and Etherington getting some PT, but neither can do anything other than stand outside and shoot the 3. Neither are doing it well today. Hoosiers missing a lot of shots they normally make.

Oh and Verdell Jones just pulled his groin. If I had to guess, I'd think he'd miss a couple games from the looks of things.

Those missed shots from the 1st half....are not being missed any more. Things are evening out for IU and they went on a 31-5 run in about a span of 5-7 minutes.

I think the thing I like best about this team is how they share the ball/make the extra pass. Granted, this was a team they should be expected to beat like a drum, but it's nice to see the unselfish play continue even with a huge lead.

12-0 is nice, but the real season, as they say, starts next week. They are far ahead of where I expected before the year started.

I was just thinking to myself that I haven't met my quota of yelling "John Higgins you are horrible" at the TV

Dixon is the only one not playing like an idiot right now.

And if I ever meet John Higgins face to face I'm punching him in the throat.
