Ugly win by IU, but I'll take it.

Yeah, that was a good team to have a hangover against. Whether it was the inability to replicate the UK high or the week off, it just wasnt there today. Good thing ND couldn't score the basketball whatsoever.

Exactly. I was there and it was just a boring game to watch, no flow to it at all.

I didn't catch the whole IU/ND game, but from what I saw...holy God, the Irish are even worse than I thought. 5-7 Big East wins seems likely.

No, Notre Dame was not very impressive. They'll struggle in the Big East, though the league is a little down. While not a resume building win for IU, it was a still a nice win in context. It's never easy coming off a huge win. IU was rather sluggish but did have control of the game throughout the second half. Two more games which should be gimmes, then they dive right into the Big Ten. First three games: at Michigan State, home to Ohio State, home to Michigan. Eager to see how the team does in the league.

I'd be extremely happy with 1-2 to start the conference season (Michigan looks most winnable). Should win 4 of the 5 after that. Pretty tough conference schedule with Ohio St, Michigan St, and Michigan all twice and only Wisconsin game is on the road.

Ryan, I heard there were chants calling for a new coach, was this true?

I didn't hear any, but I was up in the 300 level. The booing was noticable for most of the 2nd half.

I hope the AD was paying attention.

Huh, perhaps I've become an optimist. I expect 1-2 and would be perfect content with that. But "extremely happy"? No. Michigan is only No. 41 in Pomeroy, which gives IU a 78% chance of beating them in Bloomington. Michigan is overrated in the human polls (in my opinion as well). IU has beaten Michigan the last two years at home (by 19 last year) and had them beat, before losing in overtime, in the six-win season. If IU is 0-2 and doesn't respond with a really good performance against Michigan, I would be rather surprised.

Looks like Jabari Brown is going to transfer to Mizzou. Frank Haith sure does love him some transfers. Keion Bell and Earnest Ross this year, now Brown and maybe Khem Birch next year.

considering the way mike anderson left mizzou (with ZERO recruits), they definitely needed some polished players (ross, bell). i like it. 2012-13 went from looking very bleak to actually pretty good.

Looks like a great pick up. Faith in Haith.

Lol Illinois is going to lose at home to Cornell. God I love Bruce Weber.

What is going on in Champaign?

Is there a real anti-Weber movement developing? Are you in the minority in the fan-base?

No there is a lot of heat now from what I hear from family that lives there.

IU up 52-15 at the half against Howard. Nice to see a team that can score/shoot after the past few years.

9/14 from behind the arc so far.

Gotta like shooting 9-14 from 3 and 7-11 from the FT line, in a half. 24 for 32 inside the 3-pt line for the game. Remy Abell is an interesting cat. Seems to play pretty well when he's in there. Would be interested to see how he develops, but I don't know that he'll be around for the long haul with Yogi coming in next year.

I like how balanced their scoring attack can be. Through 11 games they still have 5 guys averaging more than 10 per game, with Jones at 8.9. Still not sure how the Big10 is going to go, but certainly exceeded expectations so far.

Yeah but once Hulls graduates then Remy could be the guy to spell Yogi as a junior/senior. If he continues to develop that is. Honestly I think Remy may be playing more for us by the end of this season. I'd like him to eat up the minutes that Danny "super midget" Moore gets.

At this point I'm setting my baseline expectation for the Big Ten record at 9-9 and hopefully IU can do a little better than that. The way we handle those first 3 conference games will go a long ways towards shaping my true expectation level for this team.

I hate to sound like a sappy cliche, but I just enjoy seeing these guys win. These guys finally have a taste of winning, and I think that means a lot for the conference season. Beating Howard by 50 doesn't make them a great team, but the more they do win...the more the players feel they should win. Hopefully when they do lose a couple games (like to start the conference season) they can keep it from snowballing like it has in year's past. I'm still pretty confident in this team's ability to shoot the ball in Assembly Hall. But it's going to be a struggle when they can't hit shots on the road and teams go at Zeller and get some fouls called on him. Part of me would really like to see someone really become the go-to guy on the perimeter, but I do like that Watford, Hulls and even Sheehey and Oladipo all feel confident enough to make plays when they need to.

9-9 may actually be low. I'd like to think they go at least 7-2 at home (losses to Ohio St and at most 1 of Illinois, Mich St, Northwestern). On the road, should take at least Penn St, Nebraska and Iowa. That's already 10 wins and still should have a decent shot @ Purdue, @ Minnesota, and maybe @ Michigan

I realize that. I'm just saying I want IU to do no worse than that. 9-9 should get us in the tourney for sure. I'm hopeful for a better Big Ten record of course.

So I brainfarted and thought the Illinois game was tonight. Any sort of description of what went wrong for those who watched it?

PS I hope Indiana collapses, it'd be really fun.

PS Kansas lost to Davidson??? At least there's that.
