Gary Harris to MSU. Pretty sad that Purdue couldn't land a 5 star who's mother was a Purdue all-American athlete. I'm still pretty happy with the 2012 class compared to some over the last few years.

We talked briefly about him when he verballed. Shouldn't be any better than a backup PG for where this team should be in the coming years, and it takes away a scholarship from '13.

We have one left and Nunn, Parker, and Hamilton still are uncommitted. Picking up Orris was stupid.

I don't know about that. Not saying Orris is a world beater or anything, but nothing wrong with taking a #1/2 PG with skills.

 

Parker is NOT going to UI.

Nunn is NOT going to UI.

Hamilton is over-hyped.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Meyers enter the draft. Nunn is visiting tonight, I think we have a reasonable chance at Parker (15-20%) which will be based on how well we play this year. From what I've read Hamilton lacks passion for the game, meaning he's probably the perfect Bruce Weber big man malcontent.

It has to be windy as crap on a carrier, can't wait to see the shooting percentages from that game.

Double double for Zeller. Of course every freshman big for IU has gotten a double-double in his first collegiate game, including the great Tom Pritchard. Really good to see Oladipo and Sheehey play a lot more under control to start their sophomore years. Disappointing that Verdell Jones and Christian Watford didn't really lead this team like they should be able to. I would like it if Zeller is the leading scorer for most games, because that would mean they are going inside and a lot less 1-on-1 play. But there are going to be times where those 2 are going to have to take over games in order to win it.

 

Turnovers still a problem. But 14 in the opener is fine, especially since 7 came in the first 10 minutes. Defense was terrible when Zeller was on the bench. Lot of pressure on the kid to be the defensive stopper and the focal point of the offense.

 

Edit: I take it back. Jones had 7 assists and only 1 TO. I'll take that from him every night. Point still stands on Watford.

There has been talk of this the last couple of days, though from what I have heard its been nothing to worry about. Just him not wanting to sign early. Hard to see him not signing.

In a meaningless, arbitrary stat, Iowa's Aaron White was the third B1G freshman since 1997 (maybe further) to get 19+ and 10+ in his freshman debut. The other two were Kris Humphries and Sullinger.

 

He was also the first Iowa freshman to have a double double in his debut since Settles in '93 and the most points in a freshman debut since Ricky Davis in '97 (which was also against Chicago State).
