I walked by Wrigley to grab my tickets for tomorrow at Will Call and they were unloading all the players cars, shipped from Arizona. I saw Sean Marshall waiting for his car to get unloaded. Cool story right?

The players have cars shipped to AZ then back to CHI? Why wouldn't they just rent cars for ST or have the organization set up a deal with a local car dealership to get loaner cars for a month or so. Seems like quite a waste of money doing what they do. Anyways, what kind of car does Marshall have?

'Afternoon Everybody

What are your Pirate expectations this year?

Most improved team! :-)

We're still going to lose 95 games. But, that's a 10 game improvement.

Actually, I went to the Phillies/Pirates preseason game last night. If Charlie Morton pitches all year like he did last night, he's going to win the Cy Young. I'm not holding my breath, though.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.

God damn I love that movie.

Opening Day is here, finally. Like another person in this thread, the high after the Packers Super Bowl win didn't make the wait quite as long, so I wasn't quite as jazzed for this as I have been in the past, but I'm still loving the hell out of baseball finally being back.

If things go right, this team could be playing meaningful games well into September. If you pressed me on that, I'd say probably for the WC, but I wouldn't totally rule out the division. I think our pitching staff is pretty underrated by people who aren't Cubs fans and could be our saving grace this year. The offense has to pick up, though. At least we have a competent manager this year, which is something we haven't had in a long time.

I'm excited. Go Cubs!

If we're playing meaningful games for the wild card spot, I bet we'll be right in the mix for the division as well. I don't think anyone in this division will be that good.

Not sure...his car was still being unloaded from the truck when I walked by. I am such a loser, I made eye contact with Marshall and then immediately looked the other way and then spent the next 10 minutes thinking about all the cool things I could have casually said in that situation.

I saw what the weather looked like and decided against buying myself a ticket. Fate however saw fit to hand me a free one (all the way up in Section 119). And I can't pass that up, can I?

So if you're watching the game tomorrow, I'll be the really cold guy in jeans and a sweatshirt. I may even have a poncho if it's raining hard enough.

Everyone ready for the season? Are you ready to dominate? Be dominated? Ready to be on the winning end of a blowout? The losing end? Are you ready for the adrenaline of trailing all game only to come back and win late? The despair of leading all game only to lose it in the 9th? Are you ready to lose games we should have won? Win games we should have lost? Are you ready for the singles, the doubles, the triples, the homers? The stolen bases, the forceouts, the pickoffs, the putouts? The strikeouts, the walks, the balks, the hits? The exhilaration, the disappointment, the screaming, the silence? Are you ready?

It's extremely disappointing to know there are Cub fans who also like the Packers.

I am one of these odd people.

Derranged is more like it.

What next, Cubs and Red Wings fans?

man, why can't we have some good weather for once on opening day? Jesus

I'd almost rather is snow than rain

Yea... would be nice if we could have like a sunny 70 degree day on opening day for once... We certainly didn't have one of those last year.

OH WAIT

What's a "last year?"

I'm trying to remember anything about last year. I remember Castro, Colving hitting some homeruns and that's about all he did and I remember Heyward hitting a home run off us opening day. That's about all I got.

Double header tommorrow? :D

No way that would happen but it be a great way to start the season.
