Registration for a random lottery to purchase tickets to the much-anticipated Cubs-Red Sox series at Fenway Park began Wednesday.

Fans can register for the drawing for the May 20-22 series, along with nine Red Sox-Yankees games and all seats on the Green Monster and Right Field Roof Deck, at redsox.com. There's no fee to register for any of the three drawings, but there will be a limit of four tickets apiece.

I would sign up for this lottery and buy what I can get whether going or not, anyone of these tickets are going to be premium mark ups.

That being said I am praying for a chance to get any of the Cubs games so I can make the trip.

On a related note, looking at the Cubs pricing structure and awful weekends schedule this year, I have a feeling that the average fan buying single game tickets just to sell on the secondary market will actually lose money. The Cubs are smart about the ticket plans and premium fee presale, but anyone pursuing those or buying tickets when they go on sale just to sell them will be very disappointed.

I may poke around for some Opening Day tickets for personal use, but aside from that I doubt I will buy anything else.

I entered the lottery... there's no way I can get to Fenway but I can imagine I can flip them on StubHub or eBay for quite a bit more than face value. But I'd actually have to win them first, and I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone that wins, I will gladly work something out. Be it for the code, the tickets, etc. For cash, tickets at Wrigley, or to the Bulls, etc.

yeah this is not 2005 anymore. The only tickets that really command a high price are Cardinals weekend, Yankees, Red Sox, and White Sox, and even the Cardinals and White Sox tickets are only slightly inflated

I looked last year and there's no margin on those games. And now they're even more expensive. You might be able to make some on the Saturday Yankees or White Sox games, but that's about it. Most of those tickets will be gone before the on sale, anyways.

Actually, I believe the only games that you can make some money on are weekend interleague series against teams that rarely come to Wrigley and have decent sized/nearby fanbases like the Twins or Indians. But those games have to be outside of the top pricing tier and I don't believe there are any this year.

Just got my e-mail. I am in for the Cubs @ Fenway on sale! I have a friend that got selected, too.

I'm in too.

I'm curious as to what the tickets are going for, even at this point its probably going to be difficult to buy them.

I also "won"

Probably a total scam. The bad thing is that I'm out of town that day. . . . will have to find a wifi hot spot and buy some tix.

I'm in and so is my friend. I'm beginning to think that everyone "won" this lottery.

Thinking about it between Cubs and Yankee games you might be looking at over 500,000 tickets and with a limit of 4 per email is 125,000 offers.

Capacity is 37,402. The Red Sox cap season tickets at 21,500. The difference of 15,902 times 12 is 190,824. That has to be considered the absolute most tickets that will be made available. Likely far fewer.

Ahh. I was think it was just over 40,000 and forgot all about the season ticket holders.

I got selected on 1 out of my 3 submissions, but after reading how many other people got selected it still doesn't sound very likely that I will actually get tickets.

Has anyone bought Red Sox tickets in the past? Will it be the same system the Cubs use where you can open 50 windows up, or will it be 1 window per login?

The email states that the password you have will only be good 1 time so I don't think you will be able to have multiple windows open.
