Like Urlacher needs another reason to dislike Gale Sayers. Is Sayers that bitter about how his career ended that he has to resort to insulting players on the team he himself played for?

There are few guys in the game more badass than Brian Urlacher. From his play on the field all the way down to his "I don't really give a [expletive] what people think of me/us" attitude.

Clay Matthews.

Oh yeah, I went there.

gay men can't be bad ass

Darn. Sucks for you then, doesn't it?

(edit: This is just trash talk. I'm not homophobic)

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't know what the hell I would do without you.

Then there's no point in arguing then because your not disagreeing with my statement. This is the biggest non-championship game in my life time, due to the game matching 3 factors, the importance of the game, the mutual, fierce and historic rivalry between the participants, and the importance of that team and sport to the city.

I'm sorry but this is absurd. You are arbitrarily deciding that the only game that can match it is another Bears/Packers game.

Yes I am because that's what makes it so important! Bears/Packers in the NFC title game is the absolute pinnacle of sporting games in Chicago and no other non-championship game can match it.

The fact that it's the NFC title game is the reason it's so big. The rivaly only adds to the story, but it does not add anymore than when it was for their first trip to the Super Bowl.

Half of the entire city didn't care at all about the Cubs series.

Have you met White Sox fans?

See and I thought about that and almost changed my mind, but now I am thinking about it and you might have a point. While only half the city (or 60-70%) likes the Cubs, pretty much the entire rest of the city wanted us to lose so badly, it definitely becomes a bigger deal in the city and raises the importance. At the time the Cubs and Sox were in a cold war to see who could actually win, or even make, a World series, so it was so important for the Sox fans to not see us get there.

So you think the game would have equal hype/importance if it was the Eagles.

You cut me to the bone, Banedon.

Doesn't Gayle Sayers pretty much have a feud going with everyone?

No offense to The Comet, but God he's got to be a nightmare to try to get along with.

He's like Jersey & NG put together, with a dash of HCCF thrown in for good measure.

From the bolded, he obviously doesn't think that. He's just saying the added importance from the rivalry doesn't outweigh the added importance from the chance at a first trip to the Super Bowl, or even a first SB in 21 years in 2006.

And that's the basis of our argument. To you, the fact that it would be our first appearance in a super bowl and first appearance in a championship game in 22 years puts it at a higher importance. To me the fact that we can extend our rivals 13 year championship and 12 year super bowl drought while getting us to our 3rd ever super bowl makes it more important. You do realize that our championship drought is longer now than it was in 85 when we finally won right? I don't let the fact that we made a super bowl and lost 4 years ago stand in the way of this game being of extreme importance.

I'm trying to think of an objective measure. Obviously we can't measure ratings from this game to ratings from 1986...too much has changed to allow bigger audiences now. But would comparing ratings from this game to the Bears-Saints game in 2006 be reasonable? (If those ratings can be found somewhere on the interwebs)

I'm not calling it meaningless. I just don't get how people can pretend it's in a category ahead of the chance for the first trip to the Super Bowl.

While the championships are great. But the time Super Bowl X came along, nobody gave a crap about NFL championships. It was super bowl or bust. And it still is.

This is one of the dumbest arguments ever.
Not to go too far off topic and spout more of my typical Cleveland pity, but you're right. And, sadly, I've had more than one similar discussion about which of the Cleveland heartbreaks (Drive, Fumble, Shot, Jose Mesa, LeBron) is the worst.

The game is three days away...all rational discussion has been had. It's stupid time for 3 days. No way around it.

It is. I agree.

Trash talking in person is cool but seeing it typed out just makes it soo bad.

Rough translation with liberties:

The player I like is better than the player you like

No because hes gay

No you are the one who is gay

Wow you suck at this plus you're fat and ugly and can't read good

Your mom

If we were all in a bar it would be hilarious though.

Crap, there goes every argument me, imb, N&G, Sulley, and SouthSide ever had. Now who will I argue mindlessly with?

What if we use pics instead? Does it make it cool then?

For example...if I ask erik if he made the helmet himself, or if someone made it for him...

Dude, I'm way hairier than that with my shirt off. And very clever with the fat jokes, btw. That's never been done before!

You people keep proving me right about what I said upthread, about nobody around here being smart enough to think of any other insults. I guess that applies to mods, too.

Judge all you want, but the nipple stickers were solid decision making.

Oh, Eric is actually fat? That's pretty funny then.

Bah...I just grabbed the silliest looking Green Bay pic I could find. The fat guy was really just coincidental. But whatever...you like to trash talk, but as soon as someone comes back at you, you get all bent of shape.

Hey, I can handle anything you want to dish out. Just be original and creative about it is all I ask. Fat jokes are so cliche!
