Chris Harris practiced today.

He's not going to be 100% for the game anyways. You think trotting out a broken down safety against the Packers receivers will work out?

Broken down? lol

He has a hip pointer. He'll take an injection and be fine.

If I'm the Bears, I take the opening kickoff if I win the flip. I think it's important to try to score quick and play from ahead. The only thing that scares me about the game is if we get behind and half to throw the ball to catch up. If we can get ahead and run the ball, I think we win.

I can't disagree. The team that runs the ball best this game wins. To me, that's the #1 factor.

Sucks for the Packers then.

The real question is, where will he find such unprecedented levels of attention after this game is over?

game threads start in like 10 weeks

for me, the key on the Bears D will be the interior lineman. Peppers and Idonije will get pressure by pushing the tackles back, but the Bears need Tommie/Toenia (sp?) and company to force the pocket. The sacks will happen inside. I just dont see the Packers having a big day running the ball against this D.

The Bears offense needs to run the ball whether or not they get behind. I dont buy the idea that they HAVE to score first, they just cant get down by 14+ points early. If GB takes a quick 7-0 lead, and the Bears respond with 3 to make it 7-3, its game on. An outside-the-tackle run by Forte could easily score a 50 yrd TD

Is it bad that I want the Bears to win not because I'm a fan but because I could rub it into my friend's face? He's the guy who only roots for the top of each sport (Duke BBall, UConn womens bball, Yankees, Lakers, etc). He said the Bears will never have a winning season with Cutler because he had such a horrible year last year and that Urlacher and Peppers are the top 2 most overrated defensive players in all of football. Pretty much anything short of the Bears going to the Super Bowl and he will say they choked. I think even if they DO make it to the Super Bowl and end up losing, he'll say they choked... so I kind of need them to win it all... haha.

Oh, and he thinks he's the next Bill Simmons.

Mike (Indianapolis)

Is Green Bay and Chicago really a huge rivalry as everyone is making it out to be? The last time they played each other in the playoffs was in the 1940s. Aren't they really just bitter divisional rivals in a crappy division.

Bill Simmons (12:58 PM)

Glad someone brought this up. I feel like I'm in the top 1% of diehard football fans and can't remember a single meaningful Bears-Packers game. I'm sure there have been a couple, I just can't remember any. Am I wrong on this?

I wonder if he realizes that the Red Sox and Yankees have met a grand total of 3 times in the playoffs over a 100+ year history.

How the hell can you tolerate spending time around someone like that?

My mother always told me, "If someone is an insufferable [expletive] douchebag, they're not your real friend."

I never really thought about how rare it is for QBs to win road playoff games until Simmons wrote a comment about Sanchez in his chat today. The comment was that if Sanchez wins this weekend, he will be the first QB EVER with 5 postseason road victories in a career. And its his 2nd overall season!! So I started to look up a random grouping of QBs to see what their career road playoff records were:

First get these out of the way:

Rodgers: 2-1

Cutler: 0-0

Active players:

Brady 3-2

P. Manning 2-5

E. Manning 3-1

Sanchez 4-1

Brees 0-2

Roethlisberger 3-0

Flacco 4-3

Retired players:

Steve Young 0-3

Joe Montana 2-5

John Elway 3-3

Dan Marino 1-6

Brett Favre 3-7 (hopefully he's on this list for good)

That's crazy. Flacco has never played a home playoff game, while Big Ben has played only home playoff games except 05 when he won all 3 road games to get to the Super Bowl.

I guess it makes sense because the best QBs are usually on the best teams and the best teams win divisions and get byes, leaving it so you rarely play road games. The Bears haven't played a road playoff game in 16 years.

That wasn't a car, that was Erik riding around Halas hall on a tricycle.

Looks like Simmons is picking Jets-Packers.

Yup. I don't feel like going through Simmons' picks all year, but I'd think he have the Bears going about 4-13 if all his picks came true. Strangely enough one time he did pick the Bears is when they played the Pats.

He's gone back and forth all season. Usually after a couple times of Chicago covering when he bets against them he'd switch. But for some reason he's under the impression that last week's game could have gone either way and barely gives the Bears credit for the win, let alone the cover.

He hasn't given his reasons yet for this pick, cuz he's blathering on about his reasons for the AFC pick.

is he still doing his chat?

His reason is he can't trust Cutler.

Yeah...it's the end of his chat, and he's making his picks. He gave hints earlier...he picked the jets, and didn't think it'd be jets-bears...so....

But we're on reason 8 for his Jets pick...*zzzzzzz*

I thought for a minute he was gonna pick the Bears about 20 minutes ago when he posted 3 consecutive comments from readers about why the Bears should win and comparing it to the 06 NFC title game.
