I hope the re-sod the field. Soldier Field's playing surface is an embarrassment.

The answer to your real question is no.

Packer receivers will not have the kind of traction they had in Atlanta.

Haha, I'm aware. Both teams have to play on it so I don't think it will be too much of a competitive disadvantage.

Soldier Field and Heinz Field should both just give up and put down field turf.

Tickets to the game will be tracked with a special "fan sensing" mechanism. Hence, Bear fans who sell their tickets to Packer fans will have their names & addresses stored in a database for future reference.

For those going for tickets tomorrow afternoon, don't try for any more than 2 tickets. You'll have a 0% chance of landing 4, but you may have a 1% chance of landing 2. Personally, I'll just be going for a single seat and then deciding if it's worth it to go alone vs. selling it.

Also, call in to the automated line (866-448-7849) 10-15 minutes early and get familiar with the menu options. You should be able to keep saying "start over" every few minutes to go back to the main menu and avoid being disconnected.

I absolutely love that the NFC South teams were dispatched in such an embarrassing way. Can't imagine a more intense NFC Championship setting (except Vikings/Packers and only because of #4).

I do think the Packers are the superior team but Lovie Smith's personal vendetta against the Packers seems to have him well prepared every time they face off. Personally, I think it's a good quality in a coach/team.

Odd tidbit: if you look at game-by-game DVOA, the Bears outplayed the Packers both times the teams played each other this year.

whoever wins this i'm rooting for in the super bowl.

Exactly my thoughts.

Yeah, no. I don't root for GB any time.

EDIT: Unless it would help us get into the playoffs or better seed or something like that.

As a guy that loves baseball sabermetrics, I think football sabermetrics are foolish, if honest mistake, and aren't really the best way to look at football teams.

I remember the Bears were still a negative DVOA team overall well into like week 14. Its a dumb stat.

It's a great way to look at football teams. It's a sketchy way to look at individual performance, because so much of football performance is team-dependent.

I'm not sure if you realize how awful the Bears were from weeks 4-7. And on week 14, for that matter. However, they've been so good since week 9, especially defensively (they've been second overall since then, 3rd against both the run and pass), and even slightly above average offensively.

Thinking a stat is foolish because it doesn't reflect well on your favorite team is a foolish reason.

FO mentioned this also, that the Bears have basically flipped themselves over in DVOA from week 4.

Rogers is on fire, but so are the Bears. I was driving to work this morning, and I started to feel the anxiety. this could be an insanely great game

Lovie is 8-6 vs. the Packers since taking over. But that goes to 8-4 in games that mattered, with the Bears losing Week 17 this year and that infamous final game of the 2006 season.

To break it down.

8-6 overall.

8-4 in games that Bears tried to win

4-3 in Chicago

4-3 in Green Bay (both go to 4-2 if you take out the aforementioned games)

2004- beat a 10-6 GB team on the road.

2005- swept at 4-12 GB team

2006- 26-0 shellacking at GB

2007- swept a 13-3 GB team, giving them 2 of their 3 losses.

2008- 9-7 Bears split with 6-10 GB team, but got blown out 37-3 in the first game (won the 2nd in OT)

2009- swept by 11-5 GB team, by combined 13 points.

2010- split with GB. Won game at home.

So, it looks like when Lovie has tried to motivate the team and they were talented enough to compete, he's been able to get the most out of them vs. GB.
