Anybody get a little excited hearing about the secret meeting in Dupage County? Apparently not all owners knew about it, it was kept under the radar with just a few of the big name ones attending, along with Smith and a couple players. I wonder if the McCaskeys were kept abreast of the meeting, since they are not mentioned as having attended but obviously are very close to where they took place. They do not seem to be very influential, and just go along with whatever the Rooney/Mara types agree on.

I thought the whole thing was pretty cool. It's getting to be crunch time, though, and I hope a resolution is agreed upon ASAP. I think the idea of an 18-game season is pretty much dead. That won't be happening. Right now I don't care what gets done, so long as it doesn't cut into the season.

The NFL should take a look at what happened to baseball after the '94 strike. That's really when the NFL grabbed the huge audience it has now, because people were so pissed at baseball for the stoppage of play during the season. The NFL will kill the golden goose if it misses any games. Those fans will go elsewhere and might not ever fully come back.

- Players are currently bringing a case to court that would prevent the owners from collecting any TV revenue from unplayed games.

Have we heard anything from CBS, NBC, and FOX about trying to use their power to get the NFL out of this lockout. They can't be too pleased about having to dish out TV money for nothing.

That's not really true. The highest rated Super Bowls were in the 80's. NFL was well on its way to being king before the 94 MLB strike, and that was just a few years after the NFL had their last work stoppage. I think they can probably withstand missing a few games this year with virtually no dent to their standing. MLB took a hit because they lost teh World Series. If the entire NFL season is lost, including super bowl, then there will be problems. I also don't think it's crunch time yet. They have until August 1st before they would move the Bears game from London back to Tampa, and probably a few weeks later before they would cancel opening week. There could be 2.5 more months of this.

The NFL would have to miss way more than a full seasons worth of games before it makes any dent. It may even take more than that.

I think if they lost an entire season they would no longer would be number 1. What's the #2 sport right now? Because that one would become number one.

Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports that sources on both sides of the dispute said Tuesday that a deal could be struck in the next two to three weeks.

Here's the latest from the meeting that is going on right now.

Key points:

- No money off the top for owners, instead players just receive 48% of all revenue

- Rookie salary cap that is still being tweeked

- 16 week Thursday night schedule starting in 2012 to bring in additional revenue

- 90-93% salary floor

And apparently, players with 4 years of service in the league would become unrestricted free agents as well.

That makes Sidney Rice a UFA, right?

The Canadian Football League and the NFL have announced an agreement to show two CFL games a week, with the option to show additional games, the CFL playoffs and the Grey Cup championship game.

The first game on the schedule is on Thursday, June 30, when the British Columbia Lions take on the defending champion Montreal Alouettes.

Is this supposed to say the NFL Network?

Yes, as well as James Jones (among others).

Man, I hate watching Canadian football.

I think I'm gonna pick a team to follow, just in case the lockout causes games to be missed.
