Am I the only one who thinks that Lovie's desire to beat the Packers/keep them out of the playoffs will mean the starters will play the whole game?
Posted

Of course I would rather the Bears win today, but like I said before the Packers getting in the playoffs isn't the worst thing that can happen.

First of all there's a really good chance they beat the Eagles. IMO, facing the Saints/Seahawks/Rams outdoors at home are all better options than Philly coming to Soldier Field a second time this season. I don't see GB getting past both Philly and Atlanta, but we can beat Atlanta in Atlanta, there's no doubt in my mind. If something happens we do get GB in the NFC CG, it will be at home at least. I really don't think it will come to that though.

And finally, the Packers getting in just increases the likelihood of McCarthy sticking around, which is good news for the rest of the division. Now that Childress is gone, McCarthy is easily the worst coach in the North.

i think if we get a chance to play in a dome against anyone, we will win.

Everyone's wondering about that, so no I don't think you're close to the only one thinking it.

But Lovie did make comments earlier about how beating the Lions & Vikings are just as important as beating GB, backing off his previous "beat GB at all costs" position.

Play them or don't play them, which should we choose?!? We do this every year with teams, and it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. There's no actual answer to the question, it's just something fans can beat their heads against a brick wall on for a couple weeks if they are so inclined, until the actual playoff games begin.

Carolina is historically bad.

The only reason they aren't heading for 0-16 is because of the grace and charity of the NFC West.

I think the 0-16 Lions were as good as this team, maybe even a little better.

I think if GB gets out of the first, they very well may beat the Falcons in Atlanta like they should have done a few weeks ago. I'd rather get GB in Chicago than go on the road to Atlanta.

It would be a tough call for me. Ultimately we're going to have to play a good team if we get there. I'm trying not to be too obsessed with the matchup we get. The thing is, we're built well for the turf, and we also have a good road record. But a home game in the NFC Championship, regardless of the opponent, is also attractive.

Bears vs Packers in the NFC Championship would be amazing. They haven't played before in the playoffs have they? The two teams are rarely good at the same time.

They have once in the 40s. The Bears won :)

In the last 16 years, between North opponents, Bears/Vikings, Packers/Vikings, Packers/Lions hve played each other. I feel like the Lions and Vikings have played too but not sure. NFC North teams haven't played each other that much when you consider East teams seem to play each other every year.

I know. Thats why I said some were just about impossible or in this case impossible. I just wanted to list all the playoff or potential playoff teams.

Hopefully we'll be experiencing about 9 months without having to hear from them or their fans, that's what.

I added them in my post seconds after you originally quoted me.

Yeah the Bears won't be playing the Packers, Giants, or Bucs in the 2nd round. The Falcons-Panthers game is over, which means the Bears will play one of four teams in the 2nd round, and in order of preference I'd list them:

Seahawks

Rams

Saints

Eagles

well, Atalanta up 31-3.

over/under on Cutler's day, 5 minutes.

congratulations, Packer fans

Have you seen our coach? You guys can play all of your third stringers the whole game and we'd probably still find a way to choke.
