DeRo to MLB Network. He was Cubs' business department's top choice for radio gig. #next

Lord only knows what the Cubs were offering to pay him with.

Probably some Slim Jims and whatever was leftover of the protein shake mix in the clubhouse.

This was probably his reaction to the offer:

His idiotic meatball opinions aside, I can't understand how Hollandsworth even has a job on radio with that awful stammer. I can't listen to it for more than a few seconds without changing the channel.

He has a radio gig? I knew he was on TV and assumed it was due to his pretty face and not speaking ability.

He does the morning show on MLBNetwork Radio on XM with Jim Memolo.

The sad thing is, Hollandsworth was actually an improvement over the douchenugget he replaced -- Rob Dibble.

Seriously, why hasn't Hollandsworth been completely [expletive] on yet?

You guys also Kaplan fans?

As bad as Hollandsworth is, the Theriot rumor pretty much trumps anyone and everyone.

"That strikeout was brought to you by Affliction and Axe Body Spray. Back to you, Pat."

Looks like the Cubs have narrowed it down to two candidates for the radio gig: http://www.robertfeder.com Might have to scroll down a bit to get to the story.

Don't know much about Ron Coomer's talents in the booth. Todd Hollandsworth is... well... not good. Not. Good. At. All.

Rooting for a dark horse candidate to emerge.

Coomer does a real good job on Fox Sports North(the Twins). He normally does the pre and post, but has done the tv play-by-play. Not afraid to criticize a player and also tell the viewer/listener what a particular player is doing wrong. Very upbeat personality and would be a good mate to Pat. On a side note, the Twins broadcast team of Dick and Bert is very, very good. The Twins have as much to gripe about as we do, but it just seems they handle it differently.

Anything over Hollandsworth.

I can't imagine how bad Coomer would have to be for me to regret saying that.

Dave Otto?

Yes.

Not Rozner. I'll draw the line there.

And maybe not Kaplan, since Hollandsworth is like his protege.

How will Pat introduce Coomer, "hello everybody, it's Pat Hughes along with former Cub grea... er... Former Cubs play...er.. Former Cubs part time pinch hitter for one season, Ron Coomer."

I say let Hollandsworth have it; if anyone deserves to be driven madness by the collection of despair on the field it's him.

I understand the sentiment, but that would be totally unfair to Pat Hughes.

I think at this point, unless there's something special about Coomer I don't know about, I'd rather have Pat go solo.

Does Coomer have any nicknames? I imagine they would try to avoid "Pat and Ron" references.

He's from Chicago, so maybe they could play that up.
