I am willing to bet this deal will have deferred money, similar to the Pena deal. Hopefully it will allow the Cubs to offer an incentive-laden deal to Webb and then we can call it an offseason (unless they make trades).

The Cubs choose one player every offseason to overpay. I'm glad Kerry Wood is the one who won the Hendry lottery. It will be fun waving those K signs in the bleachers.

I'm actually worried this will be the case. All the money we've got coming off the books will slowly evaporate into paying out deferred money next year and we won't have the ammo to make impact moves again.
