I don't think the Lakers have enough bait to make this trade. Kwame Browns just don't grow on trees, you know.

I don't either but who knows.

I have no idea how trade exceptions work but Vujacic was actually valuable in this case because he had an expiring 5.4M contract.

They were able to swindle Memphis for Gasol a few years back, although Marc Gasol has become a better player than anybody really thought at the time.

Never question the idiocy of some NBA GM's.

They ddin't really "swindle" Memphis for Gasol, and Marc Gasol isn't really any better than anybody who was paying attention thought he would be.

Pacers almost beat Miami in their house again this season. Had the lead throughout the entire game but went cold in the 4th. Took some tough contested jumpers from Wade and Lebron to put them down. They had a chance to tie at the end but managed to not get the inbounds pass in under 5 seconds. Thats the way it goes for a young team with no superstar to close. I love what Vogel is doing for this team. Almost a 5-game winning streak there.

I truly think Paul George will be a future star in this league.

I'm really enjoying this Grizzlies team. Tony Allen is making more of an impact than anyone expected. Totally changed the mindset of the team. Plus dude is [expletive] crazy.

They are actually watchable again. Hopefully they make the playoffs.

Short on players for practice, the Charlotte Bobcats found an extra body in the front office: Michael Jordan.

The Hall of Famer and Bobcats owner suited up for Thursday's workout, participating in a full-court scrimmage and showing a few of the old moves that helped make him a six-time NBA champion.

"He's Mike. He's been kicking our (butts). He still has it," forward Gerald Wallace said. "He doesn't have this quickness, but he can score, he's a shooter. The last thing to ever go is your jump shot and he has that."

Jordan, who turns 48 next week, has been spending more time at practices and shootarounds, getting on the floor and doing some teaching. Thursday's practice was his most involved yet.

"He's holding these guys accountable and it's great. I love him out here," coach Paul Silas said. "He's teaching them how to protect the basketball, how to play hard on defense, how to talk. It's a good thing.

"The guys work a little bit harder when he's out here and rightly so because he's working hard. You're not going to let him do a job on you if you've got any pride."

But you can be assured upgrading the team won't include another Jordan comeback.

Jordan was slumped in a chair with ice bags strapped to both knees at the end of the workout.

"He can still shoot the basketball unbelievable and he can move well. But at his age, he couldn't do it for a long period of time," Silas said, smiling. "But short period of time, he can get it done, yeah."

If a 48-year-old guy who hasn't played much competitively in 10 years can toss on some practice gear and own the court, does it say more that he's still got it or that Charlotte isn't very good?

He's just never going to lose the desire to get on the court.

I'd like to see a Jordan/Obama game, trash talk and all. That would be fun.

How would that be fun? Obama is a hack that can shoot a little bit. Jordan's the greatest player who ever lived.

I wouldn't be looking for the competitivness of the game, obviously. I just think it would be fun to see them both play.

I want to see MJ do more awesome speeches that get people all fired up and hurt.

How does Rondo not have a jump shot yet? Pretty ridiculous that he's in his fifth year in the league and still can't shoot outside of three feet. He'd be so much better if he could just knock down the occasional jumper.

And he's a pathetic free throw shooter.

There's an oddly clean national line in the Williams-Sloan debate: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?sportIndex=pollindex&pollId=106821

Wonder why that is? Do people in the Western Conference, who see the Jazz 4 times a year, think that Deron is overrated or something? It's weird because other than Texas and Minnesota, every state with a West team chooses Sloan, even Tennessee and Louisiana who are sort of Western Conference outliers. Or maybe its because they compete with the Jazz and don't want Deron to play in Utah anymore.

either way, Sloan is really old. The chances of him coaching longer than Deron Williams plays are slim to none. it would be pretty stupid to choose Sloan over Williams even if you were a huge Sloan fan.

Even Texas is oddly close, considering Williams is from there.

I understand it. People always have the perception that the NBA guys are uncoachable and spoiled. Sloan is the ultimate coach in that league and if they think Deron forced him out many are gonna think he is a coach killer they'd rather not have.
