Mizzou people, how good do you think your team is?

I think they have a shot at winning the North if they win one of the next two games against Oklahoma and Nebraska. The defense has been great so far.

God wants Boise and TCU to play each other in the title game

oh god no

Just hope and pray Oklahoma and Oregon can do something about that.

This would be the worst OU team to ever make the title game. TCU and Boise St would cause some changes, and I am all for it.

They can lose against OU and it won't matter with regards to the North. They have to beat Nebraska.

If they beat OU, then there are decent/not bad odds that they could withstand a loss to Nebraska.

True, but they need to win one out of the next two. If they go 0-2 against both Oklahoma and Nebraska, we're out of the running for winning the North. If they go 2-0, I believe they can win the Big 12, but we'll see.

If they go 2-0 vs Nebraska and Oklahoma Missouri has a shot at the National Championship.

You'd have more than a shot if that happened.

The strangest part of this year is that the current undefeateds were not teams that were rated highly at the start of the year. There are 11 undefeated teams. Here are their rankings in the preseason coaches poll:

5. Boise State

7. TCU

8. Oklahoma

11. Oregon

16. LSU

23. Auburn

24t. Utah

37. Missouri

39. Oklahoma State

41. Michigan State

49t. Nevada

So what past trend is more likely to be wrong? The thought that small conference teams will always be jumped? Or the thought that teams who start way outside the top 10 always get stacked at the end of the undefeateds? That should be an interesting conundrum when dealing with teams like Michigan State, Missouri, or Oklahoma State. Could those 3 teams finish behind the 2 small conference teams in the polls even if they go undefeated?

I really wouldn't be surprised if an NBA type officiating scandal comes out of the SEC at some point. I'm not a "damn these refs" type, but tonight's game was very strange. It's always been kind of a joke about BAMA getting calls (recall they didn't have ONE holding call against them for 9 straight games year) but tonight really makes one wonder. Weird stuff in that game tonight.

Oregon State just lost in double overtime to Washington - after scoring a touchdown, they went for 2 for the win and failed.

Teams like Missouri and OK state will leapfrog the other ones if they go undefeated. OK State will have beaten OU, Texas, Nebraska, and the winner of the Big 12 north (either Missouri or Nebraska again, most likely.) Missouri will have beaten OU, Nebraska, and the Big 12 south winner. I think both of those schedules should be enough to lift them past the BSUs, TCUs, and Utahs of the world. MSU will also have some serious scalps, with Wisconsin and Iowa (and, to a lesser degree, Michigan.)

The dirty little secret of the 'SEC is the greatest league on the planet' story: The SEC East is absolutely brutal. South Carolina is pretty easily the best team, and I'm not sure they're really all that great. Florida is just plain average. But the West is monstrous. Bama, Auburn, Arkansas and LSU.

It was pretty illustrative of the mistake Ball State made letting Hoke walk and hiring Stan Parrish that the Cardinals blew a 21-0 lead and lost to the worst team in FBS while Hoke led San Diego State to a win over Air Force, notching a win over a ranked team in just his 2nd year there.

san diego st was only a 1 or 2 point underdog in that game. sdsu is pretty good - they beat air force, played mizzou really close and blew out three other teams. the loss at byu wasn't very good though.

If either Auburn or LSU go undefeated, they will be in the title game. I'm pretty sure that would be true of Missouri or or Oklahoma or Okie State or Michigan State as well. If either of those teams, run the gauntlet, they will have some very impressive wins. Only one of LSU or Auburn can go undefeated because they play each other. I have no belief LSU will go undefeated, but if they do they will have beaten North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida, Bama, Auburn, Arkansas, and whoever they'd play in an SEC title game. Auburn would have had a similar run if they go undefeated.

I would think if you have an unbeaten from any BCS conference, they will be in the title game barring that there is more than two.

Any realistic chance they see the error of their ways and fire Parrish after this season? I didn't expect them to stay at the level of two years ago, but backsliding all the way back to records reminiscent of the Bill Lynch era should be considered inexcusable.

I think Michigan St. is a very interesting situation. They don't play Ohio St. And the only challenge they have left is at Iowa. With no conference championship game, if they go undefeated they will have won the Big Ten without playing arguably its best team. The Michigan win gets weaker every week, leaving Wisconsin and potentially Iowa as its only signature wins.

I don't think you can say that those 2 wins are better than Boise's potential body of work, which includes VT, Oregon St, and Nevada. Or TCU who could have wins over Oregon St, Utah, and Air Force.

Gameday coming to Columbia next week. Well crap, now I have to find a way to get down there.

Mike Sherman is a [expletive] sham of a head coach. Send him back to Green Bay and give me Jim Harbaugh.
