Why is the gameday attire for football a basketball getup?

They should have gone with Teddy Roosevelt on the sidelines.

I think the gameday attire meant the last two.

And TR was a racist, so that wouldn't work.

The sad thing is KSU is really bad too. And they're absolutely destroying us.

I think we're the worst major conference team in the country. We should play Wazzu for the right to stay in a BCS conference.

That would make sense. I wondered how the middle outfit fit in.

Didn't realize that.

hmmm i see psu is on the list. i guess our guys are just morbidly obese while other teams' players are physical specimens.

FYI, that was from last year.

I haven't looked it up, but what did you lose from last year and what have they replaced it with? Also, did your S&C coach change recently? It's about a 3 year slide before the results are felt ...

Look up the Cam Maybin before/after pics. That should have occurred in college.

yeah instead he just dominated college OT's and got drafted in the first half of the first round.

Agreed. But how much better could he have been had he been properly trained?

ok one, i recall reading multiple articles from his first year or two at PSU where the coaching staff griped that they've never tried harder to get a player to put on and keep on weight, and he just wouldn't. they had him eating a lot more and working out a lot, and any weight he gained he would just lose right away. two, he has a grand total of 23 tackles and 0 sacks in 21 games as a pro, so maybe all this "proper training" isn't working out so well for him after all.

Also keep in mind that Miami lost to FSU by about 84 points

In a game where yardage was basically even while the game was close. S&P calculates efficiency based on success per play, which was surprisingly even.

that might be the most useless poll. probably worse than the coaches poll where some lackey fills it out with strict instructions to rank opponents and conference teams high.

you can gain a lot of yards and do a lot of stupid things (drop balls, fumble, throw picks, penalties) that negate all the yards you've gained. and even if you don't have drops, fumbles, and picks, and gain 79 yards on a drive starting from your 20, it's that last yard that's the most important and often hardest to get.

efficiency can tell you some things, but it's only one small part of how good a football team is. ranking teams on that alone leaves out too many vastly superior pieces of info. look no further than ND being ranked 22 on that list. the reason ND is 3-3 instead of 5-1 is they've made a lot of stupid mistakes (and lost their only good QB for 1/2 against UM, which lead to 2 picks on their side of the 50). i happen to think it's easier to correct stupid mistakes as inexperienced players gain experience and players learn a completely new offense. but in the meantime, ND is far from the 22nd best team in the country, even though they could, if they didn't have drops, picks, and fumbles, beat all but the 20 or so best teams (they could also lose to about 50 teams if they keep dropping, fumbling, and throwing picks).

Kansas is really, really bad.

It's going to suck when they give us a game/beat us.

There's no chance they beat you guys. Did you see that game yesterday?

Kansas was 1-7 in the conference last year and we still needed a safety and a GW FG in the last few minutes to beat them. It might not be that dire this year, but the games are almost always close, regardless of the quality of the two teams.

Plus that game will absolutely be their Super Bowl. If the game was in two or three weeks I'd feel ok about it, but the last game of the year? No thanks.

Also, people seem to be calling for Turner Gill's head after last night. Yeesh.

That's true but they are beyond awful this year. They made K-State look like a top 5 team in the country.

I would love this. Would totally watch that game

YOu guys are absolutely kidding yourselves if you think we can keep that game close. Last year, we underachieved massively. We were at the least as good as you. We just collapsed because of injuries, internal bickering, program strife.

This year, we're really, really, inexcusably bad. I mean terrible. Carson Coffman looked like Joe Montana. Gabbert will absolutely obliterate us.

And while it might be early to call for Gill's head...we had a bye week to prepare for the second worst team in the Big 12. And we ended up losing by 50 points. At home. KSU hadn't won on the road in forever. I don't care how bad we are, we should be able to keep that game closer.

And Chuck Long absolutely needs to be canned.

The Big Ten Network's coverage of football games is an embarrassment. We miss half of the action because the camera work is so terrible, and the announcers are almost as bad as Pam Ward.
