Haha, Janikowski blows it.

Not saying Janikowski isn't to blame, but what pissed me off more was when the Raiders were down 24-20 and they had second and goal from a foot away but got whistled for a delay of game because they couldn't get the QB sneak called quick enough. How the [expletive] do you not get a QB sneak lined up in time?

Anyway, the settled for a field goal on the drive when they should have had 7 and the lead.

Carson Palmer threw 2 interceptions in the first half plus 4 more that were dropped. And yet Carolina played significantly worse.

The general theme of the Bengals season seems to be people starting to finally realize or admit that Carson Palmer has been fairly mediocre for multiple seasons now. It's becoming less likely that he will revert back to a guy that can win games with his arm instead of being a glorified game manager. What happened to him? Was it the injury that has caused this?

New York should go for two if they score here. I never really understood why when a team scores a touchdown when they have a 1 point lead why they don't at the end of the game.

I can see both sides to the argument. If you kick the XP, its an 8 point game meaning that even if you somehow give up a TD, they still have to convert the 2 point conversion, which I think is like a 60% conversion rate. On the other hand if they go for 2 and get it, game over. If they don't get it, the worst that can happen is they tie it with a TD.

I tend to side with the XP because I feel so much more secure when my team is up by 8 vs. when it's up by 7, given the odds that they drive down the field and score and then still have to convert a 2 pt conversion.

you mean when they have a 7 point lead? because two point conversions are successful less than 50% of the time. let's say if you make it (~45%) the game is over. if you don't make it, it's a 7 point game. if the other team scores a TD they tie the game. it's better to make them score and then get the 2 point conversion since there's less than a 50% chance of converting.

I've been doing some drinking tonight but I just turned over to the game and I can swear that the team names were in Spanish. Did I just imagine that

They've run entire commercials in Spanish. It's a Hispanic Heritage Month thing, apparently.

I'm not watching the game, so I'm not sure of the exact situation. When I read his post, I thought that he meant that after the six points of the touchdown, that left them up by one point. The XP would give a two point lead and the two point conversion would put them up a field goal.

But like I say, I have no idea what the actual game situation is/was.

Nah, he meant scoring a touchdown when you previously had a 1 point lead. The TD gives you 6, giving you a 7 point lead. They're arguing the merits and demerits of going for 2 in that situation when the opponent only has time for one possession.
